Award-winning and eight-time New York Times bestselling author Christie Golden has written nearly fifty novels and several short stories in the fields of science fiction, fantasy and horror. Among her many projects are over a dozen Star Trek novels, a similar number for gaming giant Blizzard’s World of Warcraft and StarCraft novels, three books in the nine-book Star Wars series, Fate of the Jedi, which she co-wrote with Troy Denning and the late and greatly missed Aaron Allston, and the novelization of Star Wars: The Clone Wars unaired episodes, Dark Disciple, which many reviews and lists have cited as the best of the new canon novels.

2014 saw the publication of no fewer than four novels. They were the highly successful World of Warcraft novel, War Crimes; Blackbeard: The Lost Journal, a companion book to the video game “Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag”; a second Assassin’s Creed book, “Assassin’s Creed: Unity--Abstergo Employee Handbook” and The Accidental Knight, a novel set in the world of Cryptozoic’s online card game, HEX.

2015 saw only one book published, but it was a big one- her fourth Star Wars novel, Star Wars: The Clone Wars—Dark Disciple, novel featuring the popular characters Asajj Ventress and Quinlan Vos.

In 2016, Golden revisited two favorite franchises with Warcraft: Durotan, the prequel novel to the movie, Warcraft, based on Blizzard’s games, as well as the official novelization of the film itself. November 15 sees her returning to the world of Assassin’s Creed with Assassin’s Creed: Heresy, in which she introduces high-ranking Templar Simon Hathaway, who explores history at the side of Joan of Arc. Her September short story “Promises to Keep,” in the anthology Fractures, in contrast, marks her first exploration into the world of Halo

Golden launched the TSR Ravenloft line in 1991 with her first novel, the highly successful Vampire of the Mists, which introduced elven vampire Jander Sunstar. To the best of her knowledge, she is the creator of the elven vampire archetype in fantasy fiction. Several original fantasy novels include On Fire’s Wings, In Stone’s Clasp and Under Sea’s Shadow, the first three in her multi-book fantasy series “The Final Dance”. She is delighted to see her first original novels, Instrument of Fate and In Stone’s Clasp, available in an entirely new format as online books nearly fifteen years after their original publication.

Prior to her job as prolific bestselling novelist, Golden attended the University of Virginia, where she won the Clay E. Delauney Award for Playwrighting. She worked at USA Today and served as an editor at Orbit Video Magazine and The Retired Officer Magazine. She also worked as a teacher with the Writer’s Digest School, and currently accepts clients for in-depth critiquing. You can find her at christiegolden.com, on Facebook as Christie Golden, and on Twitter @ChristieGolden.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia with stints in Michigan, Virginia, Colorado, Tennessee, and Texas, Golden has returned to Virginia for a spell.

This is a reasonably good telling of the final episode of the Voyager series, which was, in its own right, an excellent and fascinating (if flawed) story. It doesn't suffer from more than one or two instances of Diane Carey trying to get over-cute with the language, as she sometimes does, but there ARE a fairly large number of sloppy typos that I might be inclined to blame on the copyediting rather than on her writing, were it not for the fact that this, too, is a problem that shows up far more frequently in her books than in the general run of Star Trek books edited by the same people. (Things like "boing" instead of "going", "know" instead of "known", "vaulted" experiences rather than "vaunted", "where" instead of "there", "going" instead of "go", "borg cub" instead of "borg cube", "apurtures" instead of "apertures".)I continue to not understand why Diane Carey is given the assignment so frequently when there is an episode to be novelized, as she is far from the best of the Star Trek authors, but at least she did a better job on this one than she has on many others.

As an unabashed fan of the series and its finale, I enjoyed this book thoroughly. Far from being simply a hollow transcript of the episode, the book gives you access to internal character thought—particularly of Janeway, who's one of my favorite characters across all fiction. (I didn't think Janeway was as cynical during the 10-year reunion as the book makes her out to be, but even so I love exploring the character.)

I noticed a few discrepancies, such as the number of years that Voyager was in the Delta Quadrant. In several places, the book refers to Voyager's having spent twenty-six years lost in space (in the original timeline), when it was only twenty-three. When Admiral Janeway meets her younger self, they are twenty-six years apart. Mixing up the numbers would be an easy thing to do. Nevertheless, the book captures what for me was a gratifying end to a not-always-even series. (I don't care at all, though, for how subsequent books deal with Janeway, or for the supposed consequences of Admiral Janeway's timeline meddling, so I commend Diane Carey even more for this novelization.)

Well I love this episode of the finale of Star Trek Voyager and this book is so intelligent and so detailed and so you men in the way it relates all the events that one could see in that two hour episode. This is one of the very best Star Trek books for those who both love the characters but also demand something a little more intellectual and philosophical and a deeper look at the motivations of the characters and their relationship to one another. This is extremely intelligent reading and absolutely delightful.

I loved the Star Trek Voyager series and also like all the major characters: Janeway,
Chakotay, Tuvok, Tom Paris, Harry Kim etc. I was so sad when the producers
decided to cut short Voyager's journey thru the Delta Quadrant, (70000 light
years away), after almost 6 seasons on TV. So I watched the last episode of
the series with conflicting emotions: sad that the journey is over but happy that
the ending was spectacularly done on TV.

So after a few years I wanted to read the book about that final episode which was
caputred in this book. It brought back memories of watching the Voyager episodes
especially the final episode.

The book is good and entertaining read especially for Star Trek Voyager fans but
it might also be of interest for readers who have heard of Star Trek or seen some
of its episodes.

The way the story is written melds perfectly with the series finale and was good to see where the major characters of the crew went to and what they ended up doing back on Earth.
