    Hi,
since the update to the latest version of ‘Gutenberg’ we are not able to create Events anymore. Do you have any suggestions?

    Thank you very much,
    Markus

    Here are some more details:
    – Events Gutenberg: 0.3.2-alpha
    – Gutenberg: 4.1.0
    – Events Calendar: 4.6.25

What works perfectly now is the creation of the events including all details, where we had to create the event in two steps so far: Creating the event with the Classic Editor with editing the events in Gutenberg. The creation of organizers and venues has always brought error messages that are no longer there. Everything is great. If you created the event, there is no error message, but if you click on ‘View’ to call the event on the website, you get the message that the site can not be found. Creation with the Classic Editor is no longer possible. Where previously the fields for entering the details, now an error message: ‘This event is at undefined on.’

From this point of view, my error message is not quite correct: the error is that the events are obviously created, but you can not call them directly on the website, nor are they displayed in the list or the monthly calendar.

If I’m not totally wrong, then the problem is with a wrongly formatted date and time.

    Hi marcreed,

Thanks for your post. I’m glad to hear that the some of the issues you were experiencing earlier have been fixed. We’re working hard to keep improving our block editor compatibility.

We tested with the same versions you reported and were able to recreate the issue. We have a fix for the problem, but it turns out the conflict is in our core plugin (The Events Calendar) and not in Events Gutenberg. That means that the fix will need to wait for our next standard maintenance release which goes out in a few weeks.

I’m hoping that since you can now successfully create an event entirely from the Block Editor that you can continue doing that for now, and await the next release of The Events Calendar with the fix for the classic editor.

Thank you for using The Events Calendar!

    Best,
    Leah

    Dear Leah,

thank you very much for your reply.

Unfortunately, we are currently unable to publish any new events on our website. How can we solve this for the transitional period?

    Best,
    Markus

    Hi Markus,

Sorry about that, I must have misunderstood your post. I thought that as long as you used the block editor you were able to create the event from start to finish and view it on the front end. I am able to do that on my test sites, so I’m hoping you can as well. If you’re still having trouble, please update to Events Gutenberg 0.3.3-alpha and see if that helps.

If you want access to the classic editor you could install this .zip of The Events Calendar which has the new fix included. However, that is simply the downloaded branch version from github. It has not been thoroughly tested by our team. Like the Events Gutenberg alpha plugin, your decision to put this on a live site is very much at your own risk.

If you choose to install that, you’ll need to add it instead of the current version of The Events Calendar on your site. Also, note that your site will show you an update notice suggesting that you’re on the wrong version. However, you will need to ignore that until we release 4.6.26 which will have a (tested) version of this fix built in.

    Best,
    Leah

Hello Leah, thank you, that was really helpful. It needed a few tests and a restore, but if I disable the Gutenberg extension, we can create events again. Thank you very much!

    Hi There!

Just wanted to share with you that a new release of our plugins is out, including a fix for this issue.

Find out more about this release → https://theeventscalendar.com/maintenance-release-for-the-week-of-11-november-2018/

We apologize for the delay and appreciate your patience while we worked on this.

As always, we suggest to setup a dev/staging site so you can make all plugin updates without disrupting the live site.

Please update the plugins and let us know if the fix works for your site.

    Regards,
    Sky
