• Hi Joe

I hope you are doing well. We had contact several years ago. I still use your great plugin :-). In the course of time few questions have arisen that I would like to ask you:

    1.

I have specified the color green for a track. When I publish the track on the website, there is a red track under the green track. As the width of the green track is narrower than the red line, it looks strange, as if the green line has a red border. When I click on the track, a red line actually appears. Is this necessary due to the display of the elevation profile?

    See the behavior in Video1

    2.

I do not use the entire screen width on my website. The map with the tracks and the photos is therefore limited by the column width. However, I can set the map to full screen mode. The map is then used across the entire width of the screen. If I click on a “Photo” marker, the photo opens on the map. If I click on the photo, it is displayed in its own tab in full size. Everything works as it should. What bothers me, however, is that the map is reset from full-screen mode to the original column width of the website. I have to switch the map back to full screen mode every time. If I want to view another image in full screen, the same thing happens. It is very tedious to select the full screen mode on the map again and again.

I have created a video (Video2) , unfortunately the behavior is not so clear. If you have any questions, I will try to explain it better again.

    3.

Joe, I have already placed this request. Is it not possible to mark the associated thumbnail to the image in color with a colored rectangle around the thumbnail or a colored line above the thumbnail? Then you can see immediately in the thumbnail list where the thumbnail is located. That would be great if it could be realized.

    4.

If the map is set to full screen, the elevation profile is no longer visible. Only the photo or thumbnail and the Track are visible.

Is it not possible to display the elevation profile on the map which is in full size displayed? Possibly as an additional window on the map, if the display is not useful due to the large width above the thumbnails.

    5.

I have a map with all my tracks. What I always miss is that I don’t have a search option on the map to find new hikes/trips. It would be super cool if it was possible to search a location on the map. Can you possibly add this?

Thank you for this great plugin and that you are constantly developing the plugin in your free time.

    Greetings, Meggs

    Hi Meggs,

Nice to hear from you again and thank you for the feedback. The videos were an especially nice touch which I found very useful 📼 🙏

Please see this topic, which I hope will explain this behaviour. Please let me know if that is not the case, or if you have further thoughts.

Interesting, I can see what you mean and this behaviour is new to me (I do not use the full-screen mode much myself). The full-size image is revealed in a new tab which is what ends the full-screen mode.

Improving this is something that has been on my list since the first version of the plugin and it has definitely been requested by others as well.

I am working on a major Map UI overhaul for the plugin 🙂 This is a massive job though, so it will take some time.

    Thank you for your patience!!!

Just to confirm – you are requesting that the thumbnail of the active Overlay should be highlighted? Like this?:

I agree this would be better. I’m definitely bear this in mind as I work on the new UI.

I think a search feature is a great idea. What content would be being searched – the Map themselves (titles?), including any Overlays and Meta data? Or simply by geographic location – i.e. “Paris” or “Eiffel Tower” (like is available in the Editor)?

    Thanks again!

Yes, the link will explain this behavior. For me, the explanation is comprehensible and I understand the behavior.

That sounds very good and I’m already looking forward to your new Map UI.

My god Joe, it’s been so long since we’ve had an exchange. Time definitely goes by too fast. 🙂

Yes, that’s exactly what I was thinking of.

If the map is set to full screen, the elevation profile is no longer visible. Only the photo or thumbnail and the Track are visible.

Yes, I was thinking exactly of such a search function as in the editor (geographic location). But your ideas are also pretty cool.

Thank you again for your work for the community and i hope that you will continue to develop this cool plugin for a very long time.

Thank you for your kind words!

If you are curious to get early access to the new UI I will be releasing updates here. It would be good to get some testers and early input from users 🙂
