    Hello,

I recently decided to set up new website for our business from ‘scratch’ and I currently find it hard to troubleshoot absurd load times of new WP site. I followed most of the obvious steps from optimization tutorials and bought WP Rocket and still have +4s load times with a simple, 400kb site.

GTmetrix shows valuable insights, but I do not know how to act on some of them, especially the ones that seem to be the most pressing:
    – failed status of custom font – solving this would halve the load time.. but I do not know what is the reason for that – custom font is uploaded in Elementor PRO in WOFF2
    – long server waiting times – I use site ground startup package; would approaching them be the best approach?
    – making fewer http requests (I tweaked the htaccess, but the YSlow recommendation is still there)
    – using cookie-free domains

I would greatly appreciate your help and any suggestions.

    Thanks and take care!

  • I did a quick test via Google’s PageSpeed Insights tool. You can see the results here.

Based on what I’m seeing, it would be a good idea to talk to your host. It seems like there could be a significant delay before the server responds.

Thanks Michael, I will make sure to contact site ground support tomorrow.

Any ideas as to what might be the cause of the issue with the font?

    Thanks!
