Nick Land, a Digital Press Technician in IGT’s Lakeland, Florida, printing facility, leads by example when it comes to Fostering Sustainable Operations at work. After lying dormant because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lakeland’s used toner cartridge recycling program was restarted and expanded by Nick, resulting in a reduction of landfill waste, and a potential recycling savings of at least one to two tons of material yearly. Since joining IGT 21 years ago, Ewa Ulicz (she, her)’s career has been marked by an unwavering commitment to advocacy and inclusion with a focus on women in STEM, the LGBTQ+ community and mental health awareness. As director of marketing and product development in Warsaw, Poland, Ewa is a supporter of Girls Code Fun, a non-profit organization that teaches programming skills to girls ages six to 16. When Patrick Holloway, a warehouse manager at IGT’s Indianapolis office in Indiana, United States, sees an opportunity for IGT to adopt more sustainable practices, he takes it. After realizing that shipping pallets for instant tickets were being discarded upon delivery and trucks were returning empty, he created a ship-back program that not only lowers IGT’s carbon emissions but saves an estimated $60,000 annually. Pat has implemented several additional recycling and ship-back programs, and has even more plans for the future.
