In our UK home, we unite art and design specialists from every continent (except Antarctica!). With 30+ projects running at any time, we’re proud of our creative excellence, tailored project management and deeply collaborative approach. Our team of over 50 artists and designers cover Concept Art, 2D Game Art, Animation and 3D, supporting game development at every stage. We’re creative partnership experts, with long-standing relationships with clients on world renowned IPs. We asked the team for their thoughts on the studio’s culture.   • From our inception in 2009, 2D Concept Art has always been core to Atomhawk, but we are constantly exploring new services and processes that make our clients' lives easier. When creating the Armour Designs for Helldivers 2, our Concept Artists worked alongside our 3D Team, with consistent overarching Art Direction, to prepare the designs for a seamless transition from 2D to 3D. This helped to inform a number of early design choices for what was not only possible for the final in-game asset, but also provided aesthetic consistency across all of the 2D Designs. With multiple Atomhawk teams working together in parallel, we were able to mitigate potential issues that our client may have encountered later in the pipeline, and create result an end product which is both beautiful and functional.   • We were proud to be one of the studios who contributed to the success of Helldivers 2. When creating the Weapon Designs, we didn't follow a standard 2D process. After a rapid 2D ideation phase, our Weapons specialists created a 3D Concept Blockout, which allowed us to preview the concept in the game engine. This allowed us to verify the weapon's proportions and identify any potential animation challenges early in the concepting process. From here, we were able to confidently refine the concept, detailing realistic textures, decals and high fidelity information, plus orthographics, ready for a seamless transition into the final in-game model. By concepting in 3D first, we were able to speed up our process, creating a greater volume of weapons in a shorter amount of time, and removing time-consuming issues for the client further down the pipeline.   • This week, we shared a selection of the work we contributed to Helldivers 2. An exciting aspect of this project was the internal collaboration of our 2D Concept Art and 3D Teams. This allowed us to create high quality, detailed 3D models true to concept, with our teams able to access each other easily to answer questions and problem solve. By keeping the 2D to 3D pipeline in-house, we were able to deliver a more premium, more efficient product for our clients, and one our team members can be extremely proud of.
