Our colleagues at Plzeňský Prazdroj have unveiled the world’s first ever mobile application that will tell hop growers exactly when, where and how much water they should use to irrigate their farms. This was made possible thanks to recent research as part of the For HOPS research project initiated by Prazdroj. The new user-friendly application was developed by Czech developers Ackee studio relying on precise data from sensors placed around hop gardens, in soil and hop plants for more than two years, from weather stations, satellite images and other sources. The application will be used by 12 hop growers during its pilot operation, which is a tenth of all hop growers in the Czech Republic, being tested in a total of 14 different locations in 28 hop gardens. "The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn" Our Asahi Europe & International colleagues have put these wise words by Ralph Waldo Emerson in practice over the past months by coming together and volunteering to plant trees and bushes in two villages near Prague: Jeneč and Úholičky. In all, 36 colleagues participated in 3 tree planting events, planting 47 trees and 157 bushes through our valued partnership with Sázíme stromy, whose expertise and enthusiasm contributed to this success. We plan to continue planting trees this coming Autumn – helping to create the forests of the future while fostering a sense of community and teamwork.
