It was the week that all the houseplants died
When I slept in the park
And I quit working Monday nights at Dusty’s off of York

I don’t think that I know how this began
Maybe just the start
I think the week you died
Was an important part

So I put on the bandanna
Sold my bike for skis
Became the King of the arroyo
And did just what I pleased

In the intermittent years
Garvanza changed a lot
But I was unaware of most of it, was living
In my fictive Camelot

So I went to get my old job back
Dusty’s ceased to be
It’s a place with fancy cocktails now
Where all they wanna play is Morrissey

How can they tell that I am homeless
When they see me on the street
I make a point to look like everybody else
but they seem to see through me

So I tightened the bandanna
I’m gonna burn this place for good
I won’t be needing all this hindsight
When I own this neighborhood

Foreclosed on the apartment
And threw out most my things
But I still have your bandanna
And I am still the king
