Donald Glover is definitely an artist who marches to the beat of his own drum. He regularly goes back and forth from his work in Hollywood, starring in big projects and producing others, and his music career as Childish Gambino, where he is incredibly popular. Sometimes, like in the project “Bando Stone & the New World,” he mixes the two.

As seen in the trailer, “Bando Stone & the New World” is an upcoming movie featuring Glover as his musical alter ego Childish Gambino. The film tells the story of a singer who finds himself as one of the last few people on a mysterious island filled with weird sci-fi monsters. Think Childish Gambino meets “Lost.”

As for the music in the film, apparently Gambino will provide a full soundtrack for the film, which will also serve as his “final” release as a musical artist. Glover previously said that he was going to retire as Gambino after the release of two new albums. The first of those, “Atavista,” was released recently. If he holds true to his word, then “Bando Stone & the New World” will be his final album under the Childish Gambino moniker.

The film is written by Evi Wilder and directed by Glover himself. According to the trailer, “Bando Stone & the New World” will be a special IMAX event sometime this year. And the soundtrack is set to arrive “soon.” This is definitely a project we’re going to keep our eyes on.
