History of Whataburger
Whataburger is a fast-food restaurant chain based in America. The company was founded on August 8, 1950, by Harmon Dobson and Paul Burton. The founder’s main goal was to create burgers so delicious that if someone tries them, the first thing that comes to their mind should be the words- “What a Burger!”
The first store of Whataburger was opened in Corpus Christi, Texas. Initially, they were selling burgers for 25 cents. Other than burgers, these stores also had chips and drinks.

And by 1965, Whataburger was selling more than 15,000 burgers in a single day in its 25+ restaurants in 4 states. Harmon Dobson’s love for flying was inevitable.
That is why he decided to give the brand a little makeover by introducing orange and white themed interiors for its stores and a “Flying W” logo for the company.
But in 1967, Dobson died in an airplane crash, and his wife, Grace, became the company chairman and took over the control.
The concept of Drive-through was becoming a trend back in those days, so Whataburger also introduced its drive-through store in 1972, followed by the opening of its 100th store in 1972.
But the company has no plan of stopping. The company added new items to its menus in the following years, such as sandwiches, cookies, biscuits, chicken strips, and breakfast food.
The brand became the eighth largest hamburger chain in the United States after opening its 500th location in 1995.
