Amazon Web Services (AWS) revealed its intention to establish a new infrastructure region in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2026, marking its first venture in the Middle East. This move aims to meet the growing demand for cloud services in the region and support local businesses in their digital transformation efforts.
The upcoming AWS Region in Saudi Arabia will provide developers, startups, enterprises, healthcare, education, gaming and nonprofit organizations with expanded options for hosting applications and serving users locally from data centers within the country. AWS will invest $5.3 billion (approximately 19.88 billion Saudi riyal) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a part of its long-term commitment.
AWS is ramping up efforts to boost cloud adoption in Saudi Arabia and aid Vision 2030’s aim of empowering women in the workforce. They’re rolling out the “AWS Saudi Arabia Women’s Skills Initiative” in partnership with Skillsoft Global Knowledge, aiming to train 4,000 women for free on AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials through classroom sessions led by certified professionals.
