It will reveal powerful metrics like monthly search volume, keyword difficulty, CPC, competition in paid search and top-ranking pages.
See the image given below. Here, we have searched for the term - Fish Food.
For your search term, you also get country-wise search volume. This helps in targeting a particular country for the search term.
But this is not all. When you scroll down a bit, you will see some more useful metrics like Keyword Variations, Questions and Related Keywords (see the image).
This gives an important opportunity to find new related search terms and plan your content strategy.
One more important metric is still left....
This is the SERP analysis.
What can you gain from this analysis?
It gives you an useful insight on all the websites that are ranking on top of search results.
From the top 10 results you can analyze whether you have any chance to rank in the top 10 for your selected term.
Let's see in the above result, whether there are any low authority websites that are ranking in the top 10. See the image given below.
In the above image, if you analyze the result carefully, you can see that sites like Amazon and Wikipedia have Page Authority Score (Page AS) of zero for the search term - Fish Food, but are still ranking on the top 10. They are ranking due to their high Domain Authority.
Additionally there are other websites also that have low Page AS of 18 and 12.
Both the above results, gives an excellent opportunity to you to create content and rank on the first page of Google.

Keyword Magic Tool
This tool helps you to create a master list of related keywords for your target country.
You just need to enter your main (seed) keyword and your target country inside the tool and Semrush will present you all possible relevant keywords and variations.
Filter option allows you to choose only the relevant one from the result and move them to the Keyword Manager to build the master list.
In the above image, we have searched for the term - Fish Food inside the Keyword Magic Tool to find all the relevant keywords and variations.
It also gives us an wonderful opportunity to find low competition keywords with decent monthly volume. You would also get important metrics like trend, keyword difficulty, CPC, SERP results and others.
2. Competitor Keyword Research
To rank high on search engines, it is extremely important to keep a track on your competitors keywords. This will help in finding keywords that are driving lots of relevant visitors to their websites.
But how to find these keywords?
Method 1:
Go to your competitors website webpage and open the source code page. Here you can check the Meta Title and Meta Description to check the keywords your competitor is targeting.
You may also check the page content. Here you may find keywords that are marked in bold. These are the keywords that your competitor are mainly focusing on to bring visitors to their website.
However, this method has certain limitations. It will help you to find only few keywords. Additionally, if the relevant keywords are not marked in bold in the page content, you won't be able to find all the keywords.
Method 2:
Use Semrush.
Semrush database contains approximately 6.5 million keywords. The database is updated at the beginning of every month.
Under Semrush Dashboard, go to Domain Overview and enter your competitor website URL and click on Search.
Domain Overview gives lots of useful metrics like Authority Score of the domain, Organic Search Traffic, Backlinks, and Top Organic Keywords.
Scroll down the page up to Top Organic Keywords. Here you can see the top 5 keywords that are ranking high and driving most of the traffic to the website.
To see all the keywords of your competitor, select View details under Top Organic Keywords.
It will present you all the top keywords of your competitor along with useful metrics like SERP features, Position in search result, Traffic, Monthly Search Volume, Keyword Difficulty, CPC and others.
You can filter the result on the basis of Position or Traffic or Volume or Keyword Difficulty.
Thus, with the help of Domain Overview tool, you can easily spy on your competitors keywords that are driving them lots of traffic from search engines.
Make a list of your competitor's domain and make use of the Domain Overview tool to find all the keywords that your competitor sites are ranking for on Google.
Getting all these keywords saves your time on keyword research and you can set your content strategy for your blog around these keywords.
