How to Rearrange Pages in Google Docs?

There is no in-built feature in Google Docs that allows you to move pages to rearrange them as per your need.

So, to rearrange pages in a document, we will perform the following steps:

  1. Step 1: Open an Existing Google Document
  2. Step 2: Create a New Google Document
  3. Step 3: Copy and Paste the Content
  4. Step 4: Delete the Old Document

Step 1: Open an Existing Google Document

First, you need to open the document in which the pages are required to be rearranged.

Below, you can see that I have opened an existing Google document. We will try to rearrange the pages of this document.

Open Existing Google Document

Next, instead of rearranging the pages in the same document, we will create a new document.

After creating a new document, we will go back to the older document and identify the content that we want on the first page.

Then, we will copy this content and paste it to the new document.

Similarly, we will copy the content for the second page and paste it in the new document. And repeat this process untill we have completely rearrange our content in the new Google document.

Step 2: Create a New Google Document

To open a new document, visit this link - https://docs.google.com and click on Blank document as shown below.

Open Blank Document in Google Docs

It will create a new blank document where we will paste content from the original document to rearrange it as per our need.

Now, we will go back to our original document.

Step 3: Copy and Paste the Content

Now, we need to locate the content that needs to be moved to the first page.

After locating the content, copy it by pressing the shortcut key - Ctrl+C.

You can do this by clicking and dragging your cursor over the text or by using keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+Shift+arrow keys to expand the selection).

Below, you can see that I have identified the content that I want to move to the first page of my document. I will copy it and paste it in the first page of the new document.

Copy Content

Now, go to the new document, and put the cursor on the first page, and paste the copied content by pressing the shortcut key - Ctrl+V, or right click on the page and select Paste.

In the below screenshot, you can see that I have put the cursor at the beginning of the page. Right click on your mouse, it will open a menu as shown below.

Now, select the option - Paste to insert the copied content.

Similarly, we will again locate the content from the original document that we want to add below the content that we just added in the new document.

After locating the content, Copy it. Again go to the new document, and paste it after the content we added in the previous step.

Similarly, repeat these steps, until you have added all the content as per your requirement.

Step 4: Delete the Old Document (Optional)

After adding all the content of the original document into the new Google document, you can simply delete the original document.

This step is completely optional. If you want, you can keep both the documents.

After deleting the original document, you can give a name to your new document. It could same or similar to the original Google document.

That's it, this is how you can rearrange or move the pages of your Google document in the order you want.
