Move over, Phenax, there's a new mill god in town. And it doesn't mess around.

What is this deck?

Well, it appears that I can't help myself. After making a casual Dimir Mill deck in the form of He sees you when you're sleeping [Umbris EDH], I decided it was time for another. This one's built around The Ancient One. The way this card is supposed to work, you draw a card, discard a moderately expensive card, and mill yourself to enable The Ancient One to attack. The way it actually works, you draw, you discard a Rise of the Dark Realms, mill your opponent, cast a Spelltwine, and grab all the creatures you just milled! NOICE.

Yeah. Seems deece.

What are the notable cards?

This deck is built around exploiting The Ancient One's ability. As such, we have a ton of really expensive cards to discard. Since we're putting cards in every graveyard, including some really expensive creatures, this leads to exactly one place: reanimation. With powerful reanimation effects, a great discard outlet, and the mill we're stacking on our opponents with our commander, we'll have a great pick of creatures in every graveyard. Cards like Spelltwine and Wrexial, the Risen Deep allow us to recur some pretty deece noncreature spells as well.

We also run some incidental mill effects to fill up everybody's graveyard. Consuming Aberration can mill people 2-3 cards on average for each spell we cast, Teferi's Tutelage and Sphinx's Tutelage fill up people's graveyards each time we draw (great with The Ancient One's ability), and Mindcrank turns damage into sweet sweet mill. Noice.

We also have some big mill spells to help out with this gameplan. Breach the Multiverse, Tasha's Hideous Laughter, and Bruvac the Grandiloquent all do some serious work with The Ancient One.

So, how does this deck win?

Great question! Normally we'll win with a huge reanimated threat or two... or three... or four... or however many Rise of the Dark Realms can get, really. Mill victories are certainly possible, especially if we hit a card like Bruvac the Grandiloquent. Bloodchief Ascension is pretty good at draining opponents when we hit 'em with a mill effect (cough cough The Ancient One cough cough). So is Duskmantle Guildmage. Duskmantle Guildmage + Mindcrank happens to be an infinite combo! It's not our main gameplan, but it's useful to pull out of our back pocket.

So, that's it! A soup of mill, recursion, and high-cost spells. If you liked this deck, you might enjoy He sees you when you're sleeping [Umbris EDH]. It's a Dimir horrors/mill deck using Umbris, Fear Manifest. Please check it and my other decks out, leave an upvote, write a comment if you have a suggestion, and have a great day!
