EDH: Feed Me, Seymour! Feed me! - The Necrobloom

Commander / EDH* BGW (Abzan, Junk) Mill

EpikMudkip

This is my 43 Land Necrobloom "Utility Land Tribal" deck. I've only had a handful of games with this so far but it's shockingly consistent and I've been able to win 4 of the 5 games I've played so far with it. It's very fun, hyper-resilient, and I've had at least 1 game where I'm pretty sure I played more Karoos, bouncing to themselves, than I have any other land from my hand. It's amazing and I love it. I'm looking to refine the combo and consistency to maybe try to make it a rogue cEDH deck, but I really don't have any experience with the format. Any advice or suggestions would be great! I can theoretically get the combo down by turn 5 on a nuts draw without any of what I'd consider to be "fast mana" in the deck, so I think it should be possible?

Right now the main combo is to loop cycle Barren Marsh with Bone Miser to eventually fetch Syr Konrad, the Grim with Takenuma, Abandoned Mire/Dread Return and then using Syr Konrad to drain your opponents by using an effect to shuffle my library into the graveyard it's dredged. My choice for this effect is Kozilek, Butcher of Truth for reasons that will become apparent in just a moment, if they aren't already (good on you, you rules afficionado!).

TECHNICALLY this deck wins through slow-play if you play the combo from the graveyard in full. Due to the non-deterministic nature of needing to hit Takenuma and/or Konrad (usually just Konrad) before Kozilek hits it, you can't actually declare a static number of loops that will 100% guarantee that you hit the combo. Even if you do it 2 billion times and the odds are so infinitesimally small that it almost certainly has happened, the fact that you can't say for certainty that it will means that it's slow play, and while commander is, broadly speaking, a social format where this may not matter to you and your friends, in a tournament setting, it absolutely CAN get you dq'd. To watch out for that, we use cards like Case of the Locked Hothouse, Courser of Kruphix, as well as some somewhat odd land choices like Silent Clearing, Nurturing Peatland and Horizon Canopy (as well as Bolas's Citadel and Mystic Forge which pull double duty) to be able to see and actually draw/play Kozilek when he's on top of your library. I suppose you could also actually cycle away the land and dredge it back another way, but that's less reliable, imo, so this is the way I prefer. Just remember to use Takenuma to return a sac outlet after you have Konrad in play so that you can kill Kozi to resume your loop by shuffling your graveyard away.
