This deck is built for my playgroup's heavy creature meta and on a budget. For a more balanced deck, remove Essence Capture for spells like Negate , Spell Snare , Spell Pierce or another copy of Mana Leak .

Card selection/draw: Serum Visions , Opt , Search for Azcanta , Mission Briefing , Remand , Archmage's Charm

Threats: Delver of Secrets , Tempest Djinn , Thing in the Ice

Counters/bounces: Remand , Mana Leak , Archmage's Charm , Essence Capture , Vapor Snag , Boomerang , Awoken Horror , Deprive

Notice: Boomerang can bounce lands in addition to any other permanent type. Mission Briefing serves a budget version of Snapcaster Mage as does Archmage's Charm does for Cryptic Command . A bigger budget would also allow you to run Force of Negation rather than some of the counterspells used.
