Slimefoot, the Stowaway

Legendary Creature — Fungus

Whenever a Saproling you control dies, Slimefoot, the Stowaway deals 1 damage to each opponent and you gain 1 life. (Dying is being put into the graveyard from the battlefield. Tokens enter the graveyard before they cease to exist.)

: Create a 1/1 green Saproling creature token.

Nicolbolas1990 on Commander think tank

Just want to bounce some ideas around to help with some deck building dilemma i been having.

Namely trying to pick between a few commanders that share identity ( The Gitrog Monster,Slimefoot, the Stowaway, Beledros Witherbloom ) and the others will probably be in the 99 anyway, or deciding between 2x alternate commanders that'll add a 3rd color ( muldratha, the grave tide or Tayam, Luminous Enigma ) or going ballz deep and settling for Atraxa, Grand Unifier. of course adding colors adds more combo/pieces and they all overlap for synergy but adds a complexity of mana base and filtering support/staple cards more strictly.

overall I do intend for Competitive so the aim has to be consistent and fast paced for board control, but naturally budget side since i cant go out and drop $2Gs on top end cards. granted i do have a handful of combo pieces, solid staples, and "good stuffs" to work with and can probably spring for a couple new cards.

from what we played recently i think you need more consistent saproling generation for example Sporemound for landfall tokens, Evolution Sage also for landfall tokens and proliferating all the spore counters on the other creatures because waiting for three turns is a bit of a stretch, and maybe even Jade Mage or Sprout Swarm if you have open mana before the start of your turn. You may also want to invest in sacrifice payoffs like Zulaport Cutthroat or Poison-Tip Archer, who both work like Slimefoot, the Stowaway but without the saproling generation if the idea is to feed Nemata, Primeval Warden

Probably worth noting that Nekusar is a fairly solved Commander and not all that weird, so if you are looking for the originality factor, he would not be it.

Slimefoot, the Stowaway is another sacrifice Commander that can deal Infect damage if granted Infect. I think Garna’s ability is generally better, but Green is a better secondary colour than Red which is certainly a factor to consider.

Thanks for the suggestions TheVectornaut, I've had a bit of a think about it and decided to go with a more sacrificial orientated fungus tribal - the games we are likely to be playing are either 4 person FFA, or two headed giant, so in both cases Slimefoot, the Stowaway would probably be my best wincon. So I'd be looking for ways to get consistent Saproling generation as well as making sure I have sacrifice outlets for them and playing more defensively until Slimefoot comes out.

Since I want to stick with 2 colours for this deck, this will restrict me to Golgari (although I have been looking at Ghave, Guru of Spores for a possible EDH/Commander version of this deck). Tragic Slip + Utopia Mycon looks like it'll combo very well. A single saproling in exchange for -13/-13 to a single threat is very nice, plus it feeds back into Slimefoot. Crippling Fear also looks like it would be an excellent sweeper with Fungus tribal and plays into Slimefoot.

Setakat on Updating old Fungus deck (Casual)

Looking for some help/advice with updating my old Fungus deck to use in some casual 60 card wind down games on Commander Nights at my LGS. Old Fungus Deck.

Current ideas

There's a lot of good creatures in this space to fill a tribe, easily enough to easily fill the 36 available slots, and then some. But I also need to keep in mind that I'll probably want some instant speed removal/protection, so there's plenty to add, which first requires me to remove plenty.

Planned wincons are either overrun with Saproling tokens, swinging with a Mycoloth enchanted with Fists of Ironwood, or pinging my opponents to death with Slimefoot via mass saproling sac.

(Referring to Slimefoot, the Stowaway):

Acorn, the Other Stowaway

Legendary Creature - Squirrel

Whenever a Treefolk or Plant dies, create a Food token and you get .

When a Planeswalker enters the battlefield, transform Acorn, the Other Stowaway.

1/1

Acorn, Interplanar Hoarder

Legendary Planeswalker - Squirrel

+1: You may sacrifice a Food, if you do, search your library for a land and put it into your hand, then shuffle.

-2: Exile target permanent. Its controller gets X Food tokens, where X is that permanent's mana value.

-9: For each Food on the battlefield, create a 1/1 green Squirrel creature token.

3

I'd like to see another transforming creature into noncreature.

Arni Brokenbrow was pretty good. I like those stories with the viewpoint from a local, everything a character is doing isn't always so big & momentous. I liked Slimefoot, the Stowaway's mini-story on Dominaria, it was great to follow the fungi as he gained sentience on the Weatherlight.
