DreadKhan on Edh options

He's not heavily played, but Kresh the Bloodbraided can do some absolutely nutso things when he's big enough, and the deck often has some control elements (especially vs creatures, the deck wants to kill off everything but Kresh typically). It can be built on a budget (for Casual play) or as a High Power deck. On a budget you run all of the Merciless Executioner effects you can find, and at higher power you'll still run a bunch of them, but you'll also have Dictate of Erebos effects. Rite of the Raging Storm by itself turns Kresh into a huge body, and it's easy to include lots of Flings/Chandra's Ignition/Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord to win, but you can also use stuff like Mandate of Abaddon to wipe the board and one-shot someone, there are a TON of cards that play very well with Kresh, and people probably aren't familiar with the deck at this point.

Another option might be Azorius Control, Azorius is a great pair for wipes, removal and countermagic, meaning you can deal with problems, both for yourself as well as the table. I guess you might go something like Shorikai, Genesis Engine and play any vehicles that don't suck? You can freely wipe your pilots without risking your vehicles, even without things like Teferi's Protection. The card draw Shorikai offers can really help you dig, and it synergizes with untap effects.

My final idea would be something like Sauron, the Dark Lord, Grixis gives you a lot of control options, and Sauron makes you a big honking army very readily, and fwiw you can make an evasive Changeling (like Changeling Outcast) your Army in place of a token. Grixis struggles a bit vs certain types of permanents, but you can certainly pressure people and have input as to what stays around.

Oh yeah, just thought of a bad idea I've never gotten around to testing, but you might be able to build Optimus Prime, Hero  Flip with all the Jeskai wipes you can find? Optimus can 'survive' a wipe, so as long as you can give him Haste somehow you can swing each turn vs a cleared board, wiping whenever anyone gets anything relevant out. Would it be obnoxious? Incredibly so. But I think it could work, especially since you have Red for various good Haste sources. You probably need lots of things to protect Optimus from Swords effects, including a smattering of Blue counters that are either free or cost {U} so you can hold them up.

Taking a look at other people's ideas, I support Karazikar and Breena, both seem like great fits!

DreadKhan on Increase dwarf enegry to maximum!

Not sure if I'm missing something, but Sram, Senior Edificer seems good in here. Battlemage's Bracers can double your Commander's ability, Haste might come up idk. Lae'zel, Vlaakith's Champion can add an extra counter each time you add a counter. Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain will probably draw you some cards if you resolve her. Shorikai, Genesis Engine is more card draw to consider, it also makes pilots that can drive your vehicles if you're desperate.

If you can find anything that lets you put -1/-1 counters on opponent's stuff it would be very useful with your Proliferate abilities, Contagion Engine is a good example of what I mean, this starts small but fairly quickly will wipe out everything your opponents control. Choking Fumes could be an interesting surprise, especially if you can proliferate a few times after the spell resolves, possibly turning an attack against you into a bloodbath. Retribution would normally be pretty bad, but here you for sure kill one of the two creatures right away, and the other one will die quickly enough due to Proliferate.

It's a bit 'weird', but if you get out Nin, the Pain Artist out with your Commander you can pay 2UR to ping your Commander for 2 (which won't kill them) and draw 2 cards, that seems like an interesting floor. In a pinch you can remove a creature an opponent controls. If you have a bigger creature you can draw more, the price is surprisingly low since it can cost you no other resources.

I always love decks with Dwarves, such an underappreciated tribe! I have a soft spot for Dwarven Miner and Dwarven Blastminer, two very similar cards that can cripple some decks, I have essentially eliminated an otherwise problematic player by just resolving a Dwarf and locking them out of non-Basics for a measly 2R per turn.

Cool deck!

Maybe you can include Unctus, Grand Metatect so you can dig even deeper. Midnight Clock can also help both being a mana rock and letting you draw quite a lot of cards. I also saw you have Minn, Wily Illusionist, and I think it could be in the mainboard. It cheats a lot of things into play with the illusions, and with Shorikai, Genesis Engine you draw the cards needed to trigger the ability.

Mystic Remora is also a very good card that you can consider. Although you will eventually need to sacrifice it, the card advantage it gives you is insane. If you also go for the route of mass drawing, Ominous Seas can flood the board very quickly, but you may need to include some cards to have no max hand size.

Another planeswalker that fits VERY well is Teferi, Temporal Pilgrim, and the illusions it creates are amazing with all the card draw from Shorikai, Genesis Engine.

Btw, amazing deck, I still have to upload my Shorikai deck here, but it is much less flavorful, just centered around tapping and untapping Shorikai, so I love the much more dedicated vehicle theme, it is definitely a +1.

Cool deck! Personally I would make these swaps:

Propaganda -> Cephalid Broker
Ethersworn Sphinx -> Alhammarret's Archive
Jhoira's Familiar -> Shorikai, Genesis Engine
Hydroid Krasis -> Arcanis the Omnipotent
Whirler Rogue -> Rise and Shine

Icy Crown Familiar

Snow creature - Elemental Bird

Flying

Whenever you tap a creature an opponent controls, you may pay . If you do, put X stun counters on that creature.

1/2

Not so long ago, I wondered if I'd ever find an azorius commander I'd consider building. Shortly after, I built Raff, Weatherlight Stalwart, Shorikai, Genesis Engine and finally Hylda of the Icy Crown. Your challenge: Either creature a commander for yourself in a colour oder colour combination you usually dislike or create a card for a deck you have in these colours.

DreadKhan on Imperium (Marneus calgar)

Sorry if some of these are pricier than what you're looking for, here are a few cards that are probably pretty good with Marneus. Pack Rat is probably worth a look, even if you use no other rats. Ogre Slumlord is a nice budget source of tokens, since the tokens have Deathtouch you have decent odds of making more tokens if people attack you. Ophiomancer is an interesting way to draw cards, you probably want some sacrifice outlets to draw a card on each turn. Shorikai, Genesis Engine works with or without your Commander, as does Faerie Formation. I think Mirror-Sigil Sergeant is pretty cool if you have your Commander out, you can make quite a few tokens if the Sergeant survives, but each is it's own trigger, so you'll draw lots of cards I think. Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia is an unusual token generator, though it'll max out at 1 token per turn it offers a way for that token to die each turn to make space. Pitiless Plunderer is probably a shoo-in with your Commander, Plunderer + Ashnod's Altar + Marneus = Draw your deck and infinite ETB/Death triggers. Similar to Plunderer but a bit different, Revel in Riches will draw a card each time an opponent's creature dies, and if you can amass enough treasure you just win on the spot.

If you typically have lots of small tokens as your main attack force you could try Meekstone, this type of card can be annoying if you play it without a plan, but most decks care more about untapping large creatures than you do. That said, it may attract some negative attention, something to keep in mind. There are also things like Propaganda, Ghostly Prison, War Tax, and Windborn Muse to consider, there are other similar cards.

SaberTech on How to utilize Humility?

11 months ago

I think that Shorikai, Genesis Engine is generally seen as one of the better commanders to have when running Humility as part of the 99. Since it is just an artifact until it is crewed it is unaffected by Humility. The tokens that Shorikai produces also help you to pull ahead under Humility's effect.

Blue/White is a good pairing for bounce effects and it gives you Idyllic Tutor, Enlightened Tutor, and Long-Term Plans as ways to tutor Humility up. The Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal combo lets you dig through as much of your library as you want with Shorikai but the Scepter can also just have something like Boomerang imprinted onto it as a way to keep bouncing Humility back to hand as need be. You can also bounce the Scepter itself back to your hand if you draw into Dramatic Reversal later and want to go for the combo instead.

Unwinding Clock is worth considering for the value it can net with your commander and any other artifacts that tap. Meticulous Excavation is a bit limited and mana intensive in its use but is a repeatable way to return Humility to hand. Venser, the Sojourner can exile Humility for the duration of your turn and then bring it back in time for your opponents to enjoy on their turns.
