What I'd cut:

Pilgrim's Eye: Not a very good rate, and it doesn't even ramp

Eldrazi Displacer: You don't have enough colorless mana producers to make this consistent, and there are better flicker effects you have acess to

Eight-and-a-Half-Tails: Clunky protection when it isn't really needed

Avacyn, Angel of Hope: Sadly just a win-more card in this case. If it sticks around sure you're probably going to win but you'll be enemy #1 and you're likely not going to survive that

Sword of Feast and Famine: Probably the most overpriced of the swords, and the most likely to draw hate. It looks good on paper but without a way to capitalize on it you're going to bite off more than you can chew.

The Wanderer: Not worth the 4 mana. There are just better cards that could be run.

Ephemeral Shields is kind of a weird addition. Its just not very good.

2-3 Plains: 38 is just a bit high for a deck that peaks at 3 cmc cards. Maybe add more ramp instead

Suggestions to add

The MDFC's are just great to have due to their flexibility: https://scryfall.com/search?as=gridℴ=name&q=type%3Aland+commander%3AW+%28game%3Apaper%29+is%3Amdfc

You don't have that many ways to sacrifice artifacts despite having several triggers off of. The standards are Trading Post, Arcbound Ravager and for this deck Oswald Fiddlebender is great because it tutors out another artifact for free. Kuldotha Forgemaster is a must because it can turn some of your dud artifacts into a portal or blighsteel, and at instant speed too.

Metalwork Colossus is just fun, plus with all your expendable artifacts it can be quite persistent

Wurmcoil Engine is just great, and doubling that death trigger is fantastic. Can't play its new little brother, because he's black, but the original is still a classic

Threefold Thunderhulk has two ETB's that can be copied, and he's a sacrifice outlet. I would also recommend Hangarback Walker since you can double the death trigger

If you put in enough Artifact sacrifices cards like Scrap Trawler, Myr Retriever, and Loran, Disciple of History to recur them back to your hand. Also consider Syr Ginger, the Meal Ender for payoffs to all that sacrificing.

Its a dead horse, but Swords to Plowshares and Path to Exile are never bad choices.

OUT: Sungrass Prairie, Mossfire Valley, 2x Forest, 2x Plains

IN: Temple Garden, Sunpetal Grove, Stomping Ground, Rootbound Crag, Sacred Foundry, Clifftop Retreat

Taking out some of the sub-par lands for more variety and generally better lands overall. Even though there's very little red in this deck, a few of those red cards have double pips in their cost, so trying to bring up my red base a little.

You should think about adding The Pride of Hull Clade because he is good but also cool. But I think you would benefit a lot from improving your mana base. I suggest it should look more like this:

Lands

Basic

8x Plains, 8 Island, 4 Forest

Pain

Adarkar Wastes, Brushland, Yavimaya Coast

Scry Lands

Temple of Mystery, Temple of Enlightenment, Temple of Plenty

Tri Color

Brokers Hideout, Seaside Citadel, Bant Panorama

Any Color

Command Tower, Exotic Orchard

If you wanted you could also add the gain 1 life lands: Tranquil Cove, Blossoming Sands, and Thornwood Falls. You may also consider adding Krosan Verge or Myriad Landscape just to help ramp.

It would also be really beneficial to have at least a Sol Ring and an Arcane Signet.

Other

Remove Verity Circle. Seems like there are a lot of possibilities where it is just sitting on the field not providing any value. And it isn't even a creature so it can't block. You could replace this with one of the mana artifacts I mentioned earlier or like a Swords to Plowshares, Pongify, Rapid Hybridization, Path to Exile (I kind of think you need some more removal lol, but you could replace Verity Circle with whatever you wanted.)

Remove Alive / Well. Just straight up not worth. Replace with one of the cards I have mentioned.

Other than that I think this is a really good deck. I think you could use most of my suggestions and keep it close to $100.

Unless you're trying to keep the arts for the paper list and the online list the same, just go ahead and put the watermark lands into these lists. Speaking just for myself, I coordinate land arts a lot more here than I do in my paper decks. Enchantment decks get magical sparkly lands, Vampire decks get the Dracula lands, doesn't matter (at least to me) that I don't have any paper copies.

Gidgetimer on Why Did WotC Change Collector's …

I'd say that it has to do with Secret Lairs, but not the whole "Identified by their number" thing. It is more to do with SLD and SLX not having a defined number of cards. They have already printed a good deal of universes within cards and at the bottom it simply says =SLD###. For example Enkira, Hostile Scavenger says =SLD 146 which is Michonne, Ruthless Survivor.

Add to this that special printings have collector's numbers over the number of cards in the set and dropped the "out of" number. Then some cards have multiple arts counted as part of the "set" and other printings that are not in that number but feel like they should be (Plains, Plains, Plains). Just dropping the "out of" number standardizes collector numbers across all products and printings.

Specifically building around Sorin, I would suggest something like the following:

MotelWifi the big problem with your revised list is that your mana curve is still waay too high - decks often can’t justify more than 3-4 cards costing 4-or-more mana, and you’ve got 15. Your revised list also still has almost no 1-mana cards, which means you’ll often be starting a full turn behind your opponent.

And finally, 63 cards might not seem like much over 60, but every card over that 60 number is weakening the deck & making it less consistent.

A good tip for new players for deckbuilding is to pick 9 cards and run 4-of each of those (for 36 cards) alongside 24 lands. The mana costs of those 9 cards should look something like 1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,4.

For an example deck and/or inspiration, if I were building a White-Black vampire deck, and trying to keep to your budget, it’d look something like this:

Now, this list is by no means perfect, and could still do with more thought, but it covers some important points:

  • the mana curve is efficient/low
  • most cards are run as playsets (4-ofs) to keep the deck consistent
  • the deck is just 60 cards
  • there’s a good selection of turn-1 plays
  • the cards work well with one-another
  • the lands enter untapped, so you don’t lose tempo
  • the deck has ways to both pressure the opponent while also disrupting them
