Eternal Witness

Creature — Human Shaman

When Eternal Witness enters the battlefield, you may return target card from your graveyard to your hand.

I like this deck, very much, but I would choose Nature's Chant over Disenchant, since it is strictly better than its predecessor, and I also would recommend Archangel of Thune over Ageless Entity, unless having a single very powerful creature is more important than making all of your creatures more powerful.

I recommend Eternal Witness over Revive, unless you wish to keep the mana curve of your deck low, and Soul of Eternity is superior to Serra Avatar in the majority of situations.

Also, do you have a limited monetary budget for your lands? You have many lands that enter the battlefield tapped, so I would recommend that you replace them with lands such as Temple Garden or Wooded Bastion, and I also think that Saltcrusted Steppe is simply too slow, unless you have proliferation in your deck.

That's great, e wit would be a good addition too - very versatile card.

To link cards, write its name in nested brackets like this:

[[Eternal Witness]]

I personally don't make decks with big beaters so I'm not well versed in what the best value will be for your creatures. With that disclaimer out of the way, I'll give my 2 cents anyway :p

I'd suggest examining these cards to see if you can replace them with cheaper CMC or more synergistic alternatives:
Portal to Phyrexia
Maelstrom Colossus
Koma, Cosmos Serpent
Basically, I'd examine any spell CMC 6 or higher personally, I find once you get into that range each card should be something you enjoy and can't replace.

You may like these cards:
Etherium-Horn Sorcerer
Beast Whisperer
Garruk's Uprising (specifically over Temur Ascendancy)

Hey fluffyeel and thanks for your detailed comment!

Argothian Enchantress: Yeah, i thought about to put it in. Shroud is a very nice keyword. Only negative side, that it could not be a target from my own aura. But this constellation is probably rare...

The "protective" enchantments like for example Greater Auramancy: Hmm, maybe i put one ore two in...

The Earthcraft/Squirrel Nest combo: I know this one. But ask me why, i don´t like it. (Didn´t play it in my squirrel EDH-deck either).

Another tutor: Yes, good idea!

Eternal Witness: Only card to get things back is Hall of Heliod's Generosity (and here only enchantments..). Eternal Witness (or Regrowth) could get back a fetch land or anything else. Worth the consideration!

Enchantress decks are always worthwhile. Looking at yours, here are some thoughts:

  • My favorite enchantress is Argothian Enchantress: it's as fast as Sythis, plus the counterplay against a permanent with shroud is difficult for very many decks (I've noticed).
  • In terms of fun enchantments, Greater Auramancy and Privileged Position are each an extra layer of protection for your board. Other enchantments of varying degrees of enchanted-ness are Abundance (makes a great combo with Sylvan Library); Smothering Tithe (given); Land Tax (you have the basic lands to support it, not to mention you also have land acceleration!); and Sphere of Safety (if you are in a combat-heavy playgroup). There, of course, is the classic Earthcraft/Squirrel Nest combo, but it's quite pricey (money-wise)...
  • Enlightened Tutor is highly recommended for getting the important enchantments (and given you have lots of creatures that are enchantments, too...), maybe also with Worldly Tutor as more ways to get the key creatures you want/need/desire. You could also consider things like Eternal Witness and Regrowth for getting back things and stuff.

If I may add a few other notes to your thought process.

At this point, you are already on the track of using known combos and putting them into a Naya shell. There are many other combos that can go with this, you just need to tutor for them.

Note that haste is an important aspect to this. Zealous Conscripts is much better than Hyrax Tower Scout or Sparring Mummy for this reason, even though both have cheaper mana value. Without haste, your million tokens will just be board-wiped. You could argue for redundancy, but the truth is that tutors and recursion such as Eternal Witness and Skullwinder are much better, because they add to your strategy with more flexibility.

Most creature tutors are green non-creature spells that search for green creatures. However, you want to keep the amount of non-creature spells low, because Ghired's ability doesn't apply to them. But there are some great tutors that can help you find your pieces:

Most of these cards use ETBs. If you can give them haste - ideally with creatures - you can cast them, make use of their ETB, and directly tap them with Ghired for value. Anger comes to mind, Hellraiser Goblin is great (you won't be attacking, because you are going to tap your creatures with Ghired), Yarus, Roar of the Old Gods can be okay. As for non-creature spells, you have Mass Hysteria, Concordant Crossroads, Fervor, Rising of the Day. Though I would probably only consider Hammer of Purphoros as it can create tokens.

As for the token doublers, I'm not sure if they really fit the deck. Sure, they are staples for token strategies. But what's the point of making infinite tokens go double? Mondrak, Glory Dominus and Ojer Taq, Deepest Foundation  Flip will put a bounty on your head which is not a good thing in a combo-deck. You want to stay under the radar until you can go off.
Mondrak only doubles creature tokens, so you are not making more treasures. And the other doublers like Anointed Procession, Parallel Lives etc. will not tap with Ghired. Since you also want to put in all the other Naya-staple enchantments like Smothering Tithe and Guardian Project etc., you will just fill your deck with non-creatures that don't synergize with your commander.

Some cards worth mentioning are:
- Illusionist's Bracers - Cloudstone Curio (create a creature token, return a creature with an ETB to your hand). - Helm of the Host

Quagmire Druid neat sac outlet.

You need a few spells that interact with Warped Devotion. Recoil was past tech.

I think Hand of Emrakul, Decimator of the Provinces, Kozilek, the Great Distortion, and Pathrazer of Ulamog are too expensive to cast / commander ability for what they do. Some replacement examples would be: Terastodon, Void Winnower, Fleshbag Marauder, Noxious Gearhulk, Ravenous Chupacabra, Plaguecrafter, Eternal Witness, It That Betrays, Woodfall Primus, Acidic Slime, Ob Nixilis, Unshackled, Sepulchral Primordial, Overseer of the Damned, etc.

cards like Dalek Squadron with a sac outlet will get you a lot of Meren counters quickly. cards like Greater Good are great at filling your graveyard and your hand. cards like Oversold Cemetery are great for your low mana creatures and late game expensive creatures. Tragic Slip isn't a very good card for multiplayer commander, unless you are using something like Isochron Scepter

I think your deck is a little heavy on creature token generators, especially your creatures. I know they are there to build up tokens on Meren and to generate mana, in the early game, but they aren't doing much in the mid to late game. Maybe replace a few with some faster reanimator spells like: Living Death, Lifeline (a personal favorite), Necromancy, Animate Dead, Victimize, Rescue from the Underworld, Beacon of Unrest, etc.

Other cards I would consider cutting: Skullbriar, the Walking Grave (too slow imo unless he is your commander), Blisterpod (needs to die to get the token), Pawn of Ulamog, Vorapede, Village Rites, Gray Merchant of Asphodel (starts to shine with lots of reanimator stuff), Woe Strider, Scion Summoner, Brood Monitor, Deathreap Ritual, Commander's Sphere

It's tough to suggest cards for a budget deck. A card that I might consider to be absolutely necessary could require cheaper options in other parts of the deck to make it fit.
