• Your mana curve is missing 1 mana drops, which is a problem in your aggro deck.

• Merfolk decks usually play a lot of creatures, since the lords add up. Each creature you play also taps something with Merrow Reejerey, acting as a removal. 25 creatures is thus a low number.

• Play Tide Shapers - it's a one drop creature which enables Islandwalk on your creatures and disrupts enemy mana.

• Play Lord of Atlantis and Vodalian Hexcatcher if your budget allows it.
• Svyelun of Sea and Sky may be better than Tempest Djinn since it's a Merfolk.
• Silvergill Adept is still somewhat playable.
• Unsummon was made obsolete by Fading Hope
• Sinister Sabotage is too expensive. Replace it by some 1 mana spells such as Dismember, Spell Pierce, Mist-Cloaked Herald.
• AEther Tradewinds - Don't play this at all. Your only permanents are creatures anyway.
• Boomerang - Don't play this. If your target is not a land, there are better options. And the only time you want to target a land is turn 2, on which you want to play creatures.

Phyrexian tribute and gate to phyrexia were the main 2. The other options available are much more higher in CMC and I don't believe would be worth it. Should you still have issues with artifacts and enchantments after adding the above, then it might be potentially worth looking into.

Thank you for your answer. I believe my confusion came from not from mentally separating the paying of life and then the actual losing of life.

So alternatively, this means that (during my turn) if my opponent has 4 life and controls Platinum Angel, they could still cast Dismember targeting my Bloodletter of Aclazotz by announcing their casting it for {1} and 4 life. But then Bloodletter sees that they would lose 4 life from paying 4 life, and changes that loss to 8. They wouldn't actually be paying more life than they have, but would still actually go to a -4 life total.

Bloodletter of Aclazotz has a replacement effect that makes your opponents lose twice as much life whenever they would lose life during your turn. Since paying life is also losing life, I'm a little confused as to how this card works regarding that.

For example, an opponent controls Font of Agonies, and same opponent tries to cast Dismember targeting my Bloodletter for the cost of {1} and 4 life during my turn. Do they pay 4 life but lose 8 life (and put 4 Blood Counters on font), or would the spell actually require paying 8 life to cast (putting eight Blood Counters on Font)?

• You should be playing Vraan, Executioner Thane.
• Replace Snowfield Sinkhole with a Fetid Heath or Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. You have too much white mana and many spells that cost two black mana.
• Don't play Scout's Warning and Reprieve. It's useless garbage not consistent with the rest of the deck.
• I suggest Knight of the Ebon Legion. You are actually able to deliberately lose life with Thoughtseize, Smallpox, fetch and shock lands. Once you play that, you can also play Dismember which may be used to lose 4 life.
• Technically you could play this more as an Aristocrats combo deck with Indulgent Aristocrat and additional copies of Kalastria Highborn and Viscera Seer. White part of the deck could be then dropped.
