The Quick Start Guide that ships with the steam controller is missing important information to enable the use of the controller with a game. Hopefully this expands on that with the information needed to start using the controller with a game.

For Steps 1-3 you can refer to the Quick Start Guide that ships with your controller and if you do not have a copy then you can download the pdf version from the Steam Controller Documentation section of https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2754-YPKV-8614
  1. Insert batteries.
  2. Insert the usb dongle into a usb port.

    Do not switch on the steam controller just yet.
  3. Start steam client and open big picture mode.
  4. Switch on the controller by using a short press of steam button on controller.
  5. Go to Settings for Controller and add/test your new controller. You may be prompted to pair your controller and any available firmware updates will also be taken care of at this stage on initial setup. Follow the on screen instructions.To access the Test feature select the steam controller you want to test from list of controllers and click Y button on controller for Support. It is then possible to test your steam controller

  6. Ensure overlay is enabled in Settings > Features > Game Overlay
  7. Select a game in library and choose Manage Game then Configure Controller.
  8. Browse configurations by pressing X. If you can; choose the Recommended
    OR
    Access Community profiles or create your own from a template.
  9. Launch game.
  10. Use the in game overlay by short pressing the steam button to easily access controller configuration options to tweak everything according to how you have game setup and how you like or prefer the controller to behave. Using the overlay will also show other useful options.

Please Note
  • It is recommended you run the beta client for latest updates for steam controller software.
  • You must be able to access steam overlay in game for the steam controller to work as expected.
  • The desktop mode configuration can be edited to use in games that do not support steam overlay.

como faço para configurar meu steam controller para jogar resident evil 6?

Wait until they make the next Steam Super Future New Controller 2 with the combination from the PlayStations.. Directional Pad up down left right by changing the 4 buttons in 4 Directinal Pad UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT and 4 butons 2in1 this way the controller will be good for Street Fighter or Cars to games... And add the New Directional Pad and Buttons 2in1 to the left stick and the stick to the right. THERE THE PERFECT STEAM CONTROLLER 2 or Version 2.0 PERFECTTTTTTTTTTTTTT 10

in BigPicture mode don't work pads - both. only stick and buttons.
Before firmware update they working. what to do , to get back this function?

facing a huge problem I just got the controller today but everytime I go to controller configiration it doesn't allow me to press anything except for A and B. I dunno how to get configirations. and my controller is not working properly. HELP PLZ
