"At ease. Winners are Cadets de Grom, Wheeler, and Kell. Well done. Each of you qualifies for an extra dessert ration and a free period."
Commandant Aresko to cadets at the Academy for Young Imperials[2]

Wheeler was a citizen of the Galactic Empire who attended Lothal's Academy for Young Imperials as an Imperial cadet. During the class's first training exercise at the Well, Wheeler was one of the top three performers, along with fellow cadets de Grom and Kell. As top finishers, the cadets were each reward with an extra dessert ration and a free period.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Wheeler first appeared in the 2015 junior novel Servants of the Empire: Rebel in the Ranks, written by Jason Fry. The character's name was inspired by Zack Wheeler, a Major League Baseball pitcher for the New York Mets.[3]

Notes and references[]

  1. Wheeler was a student at the one year Academy for Young Imperials at the same time as Zare Leonis. Star Wars: Galactic Atlas establishes that Leonis was a cadet in 5 BBY. Star Wars: Rogue One: The Ultimate Visual Guide states that the youngest Imperial Academies begin training Cadets is "13 standard years of age." This means Wheeler must have been born at least thirteen years before, by 18 BBY.
