The Twin-Port Ion Stream Exhaust Vent,[2] also known as twin-port deflectors,[1] was a component of the TIE/IN interceptor which controlled and channelled the exhaust from the starfighter's Microparticle Ion Accelerator to provide thrust. The unit was made of an alloy that was a military secret.[2] The deflectors were finely-tuned and were able to be controlled individually, allowing them to balance each other out during tight turns and prolonged flight maneuvers.[1]
