This template is to be used for citing external websites that do not otherwise have a specific citation template on Wookieepedia.

Usage

Copy the template code below, and paste it into an article's reference note. Fill in as many parameters as you can, remove any that you don't use.

Required parameters

• |url= Full URL of online item. Make sure it matches the one used by the Internet Archive's archivedate, as redirects may create errors.
• |text= Title of online item. Note that it should be capitalized the same way as the <title> of the html document.
• For archive options, see Backup links below.

Optional parameters

• |author= Name(s) of the author(s). Multiple authors must be separated with a ";" between their names. Note that an author is not necessarily an individual and could be an organization. A long list of authors can be reduced using ", et al." after the first name. Provide wikilinks whenever they are available.
• |date= Full date of publication, in ISO 8601 YYYY-MM-DD format, for example "|date=2006-02-17".
• |format= Name of the format, such as PDF or Podcast. HTML implied if not specified.
• |work= Name of the body of work from where the item is from, using a link to either a Wookieepedia or a Wikipedia article. If those are not available, the home page of the website may be linked instead, if the website is still live. If the field is left blank, the website will automatically be displayed.
• |pages= Location relevant to the citation, formatted as "p.5–7". This is for PDF document, where the page can be linked to with the #page=number anchor tagged on the end of the URL, for example: |pages=[http://example.org/file.pdf#page=123 p.123]
• |language= Language of publication. English implied if not specified.
• |quote= Relevant quote from online item. Double-quotes will be added automatically.

Backup links

Instructions for providing a backup link In accordance with our Sourcing policy, all links to external sites must include a link to a backup version, preferably using Internet Archive. Instances that do not include one of the following parameters will result in the page being placed in the maintenance category. Please only use one of the following parameters. |archivedate=20240717030456 This parameter uses the timestamp feature of Internet Archive. The URL supplied earlier in the template, along with archivedate, will provide a link to Internet Archive. |archiveurl=https://archive.is/EfD8P If Internet Archive does not work for the link in question, you can use archiveurl to provide a full URL to another backup website, such as archive.today. |archivefile=File:Jon_Favreau_The_Mandalorian.png If none of the archiving sites work, then upload a screenshot of the page, add {{Notorphan}} to the file page and include it in this category and on this page, and provide a link to the file (per Wookieepedia:Mofferences/June 29, 2014). |nobackup=1 If no backup link can be found for content that is no longer available, this parameter can be used. If the content is still available, you can screenshot and upload it to Wookieepedia instead. |nolive=1 If the original content is no longer available, this parameter can be used, which will make the template add "content now obsolete;" to the citation. This may also mean a backup link can no longer be provided, and therefore may be used as well as |nobackup=1. Some citation templates such as {{SWArchive}} link to older content that is known to be no longer available, and therefore automatically default to |nolive=1 without the need to add the parameter manually. Note that for citation templates using a central repository (for example, Module:ArchiveAccess/SW), archivedate values must be added to the repository, and not on the individual instance of those templates.
