Shanhs were a species of fiercely predatory animals native to Ansion. They were characterized by their three red eyes, six legs that ended with clawed paws, and striped skins. The shanhs typically hunted in packs, roaming their world's grassy plains by night. The tribal Alwari often made clothing out of their tanned hides.

In 22 BBY, Jedi Anakin Skywalker and Luminara Unduli, during a nighttime watch on the Ansion plains, fought with the creatures. Later, following a lorqual stampede into his camp, the Jedi team's obese Qulun captor Baiuntu was killed by a rabbidly agitated shanh pack.
