Jerry Harte (April 20, 1931February 2018) was an American actor, director, and musician who appeared in the 1980 film Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. He is credited as "Head Controller" in the Rebel Forces.

Biography[]

Harte has been married to English actress Julia McKenzie since 1971.[1][2]

The Empire Strikes Back[]

The Star Wars Insider 74 article Who's Who in Echo Base, written by Josh Radke, incorrectly states that Jerry Harte played Echo Base controller Romas Navander, a Star Wars Legends character, in The Empire Strikes Back. In fact, the Navander role was portrayed by actor Burnell Tucker, while Harte played another Echo Base officer who was not named in Star Wars Legends.[3]

Notes and references[]

  1. Julia McKenzie on being the new Miss Marple: interview by Patay, Ajesh on The Telegraph (August 25, 2009): "With a holiday booked for February and still no news, McKenzie jetted off to New Zealand with her American actor-director husband of 37 years Jerry Harte." (archived from the original on July 9, 2018)
  2. 'I'm thrilled to be the mother-in-law from hell!' Julia McKenzie's back in the TV version of JK Rowling's The Casual Vacancy and this time she's the villain by Johnston, Jenny on Daily Mail Online (February 6, 2015): "Her husband, the American actor and musician Jerry Harte […]" (archived from the original on January 2, 2016)
  3. This assertion is based on a visual comparison of actors Jerry Harte and Burnell Tucker, using pictures of both men in their respective various acting roles (see: Jerry Harte and Burnell Tucker). Comparing both actors demonstrates that Tucker played Echo Base controllers Romas Navander and Wyron Serper in Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back, while Harte played an unnamed Rebel officer. Therefore, the claim from the Star Wars Insider 74 article Who's Who in Echo Base that Harte played Navander is incorrect.
