"Have you read the testimonies of Cervil the Uncanny? She states that the whip was sometimes used to defend against the Sith Lords who used the Forbidden Forms."
―Vernestra Rwoh, to Imri Cantaros[1]

Cervil, known as Cervil the Uncanny, was a Jedi who fought in the Sith Wars. She left behind testimonies about the use of lightwhips—a lightsaber variant with a flexible blade—to defend against Sith Lords using the Forbidden Forms.[1] In 232 BBY,[2] during the High Republic Era[1] when the Sith were believed to be extinct,[3] Cervil's testimonies were cited by Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh to Padawan Imri Cantaros as proof that the Jedi Order had historically used lightwhips, in defense of the lightwhip mode she had added to her own lightsaber.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Cervil was mentioned in the 2021 junior novel The High Republic: A Test of Courage, written by Justina Ireland as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase I.[4]
