The recent SDX drop dumped two new scenarios in our laps, just in time for the release of My Wedding Stories; Honeymooners and Engaged in Conflict. Both of these scenarios are relationship-focused and are permanent scenarios! There’s no need to start them before a specific date; they are here to stay in our games forever!

Here’s how our Engaged in Conflict scenario playthrough went!

Starting the Scenario

The Sims 4 Scenario Playthrough: Engaged in Conflict
As usual, we selected the New Scenario option on the main menu and selected the Engaged in Conflict scenario to see all of the info on it. The description states that both Sims involved in the scenario will start out engaged to each other but with low friendship and a negative sentiment towards each other following a big fight. The household requirements are:

  • 2 Young Adult or older Sims
  • Sims must not be related to each other

There are four potential outcomes for this scenario. In other words, four different ways to complete the scenario. You only have to satisfy one of the goals to finish the scenario, not all four.

  • Sims get married and have no negative Sentiments towards each other
  • Sims get married but have unresolved negative Sentiments towards each other
  • Sims break up before the wedding
  • Sims break up during the wedding

These outcomes all sounded pretty fun to us, especially the last one!

An Awkward Welcome

The Sims 4 Scenario Playthrough: Engaged in Conflict
We just went with the first two random Sims the game spit out at us and moved them into one of the default starter lots in Willow Creek. We knew we could have easily completed this scenario instantly by having our engaged Sims break up on the spot but we wanted to play around with this one a little bit more. With so much potential for drama, it’d be a shame not to take advantage of it.

Our engaged Sims started out not very happy with each other as the description warned. They also started with a handful of low-level skills which the description didn’t mention. We decided breaking up during the wedding was the most fun of the four options so we got started on that.

Of course, breaking up at your wedding isn’t all that dramatic without wedding guests to witness the scandalous event. Our unhappily engaged couple needed some friends to witness the fall of their relationship. We waited for the welcome wagon to show up and had our Sim introduce themselves to the BFF household, who lived across the street. Then we largely left them alone to socialize on their own.

It must have been a very awkward welcome for poor Liberty, Summer, and Travis, because our arguing Sims retreated into the bathroom shortly after they arrived to fight with each other. When they finally emerged, they brought the arguing with them. And our groom-to-be went outside to kick over the trash can in a rage. Needless to say, the neighbours left quickly after that…

I Don’t

Now that our Sims knew some people to invite to their wedding, we got them all dressed up in their finest formalwear and sent them to the park to tie the knot… or not. We made some minor edits to the park lot to add a wedding arch, some flower petals on the ground, and a few chairs for their three wedding guests to sit down. Then we threw a wedding social event and invited Liberty, Summer, and Travis.

We’re kind of amazed the BFFs even showed up to the wedding at all after such a strained first meeting but hey, maybe they felt bad for the couple and decided to show up out of pity. After all, who else would want to spend an entire day with them arguing like that? The bride attempted to thank them all for coming, anyway. It seemed she was willing to go through with the wedding, if only out of social obligation. She was still fuming about their recent fight.

Her groom, however, was not so willing to go through with a wedding he would likely regret later. During their vows, we clicked on his bride and instructed him to call off the wedding, which he did in pretty cruel fashion! He shouted obscenities at her, pointed his finger in her face, threw his wedding ring on the ground and stomped on it! Yikes! You could have let her down a little easier, dude, but okay… Talk about adding insult to injury. As if the fates intended it, it started to rain at that exact moment. Brutal.

Of course, the whole moment wasn’t quite as dramatic as we’d planned because the only Sim to actually sit down to witness the event was Travis… who did not react at all to the bride getting dumped at the altar. He stared blankly ahead with a dopey grin on his face the entire time. That didn’t stop our bride from reeling, though. She slapped the groom in retaliation and got the Furious About a Called Off Wedding sentiment towards him.

And this completed the scenario for us in 9 Sim-hours!

Our Thoughts

This is another scenario where it can be as quick or as drawn out as you want. Even though you could instantly finish the scenario by breaking up on the spot, you could also spin the situation into a big dramatic story with lots of twists and turns. We gave you a small taste of some of the drama that can be stirred up with this one but you could definitely take things even further and add angry relatives into the mix or jealous friends.

We played this scenario without My Wedding Stories installed to give you an idea of how this scenario might play out without the pack, but players will no doubt have many more ways to play this one when they get My Wedding Stories. Just think of all the nasty fights and scandals that could erupt at the various events leading up to the wedding!

We loved this scenario and thought it was a lot of fun. We liked all the different outcomes for it; it has a lot of replayability thanks to all the different ways you could complete it.
