This year’s Indonesian Game Developer Exchange (IGDX) in Bali showcased the diverse offerings of the local video game industry.

The event, open to the public, provided a platform for Indonesian developers to receive valuable feedback from players, unveiling a plethora of upcoming games.

A total of 40 games were showcased, and here are ten games from IGDX that IGN Southeast Asia highly recommends:

StellaGale: The Trials Of Faith

We’ve already praised the game’s visuals before, but StellaGale: The Trials Of Faith’s gameplay is equally impressive. This action brawler keeps players on their toes, and we can’t wait to see what the full release has in store for us.

Project GT

Rolling Glory Jam has demonstrated its ability to tug at heartstrings with titles like Hello Goodboy and the upcoming Helen, and their venture into action roguelite gameplay with Project GT appears highly promising. With its high risks and rewards, we hope this concept materializes into a complete game soon.

Kriegsfront Tactics

Every time we see Toge Productions’ Kriegsfront Tactics, we are constantly impressed with the game’s PS2-style graphics and unique approach to mecha warfare. The game features meticulous battles, requiring players to be master tacticians to truly maximize their potential.

Project Mansion

After their impressive cyberpunk adventure, Rendezvous, Pendopo Studio is applying the same art style and gameplay mechanics to create a brand-new haunted house experience. Based on our experience with Project Mansion, we see immense potential for a fresh approach to horror gaming.

Montabi

An Indonesian take on Monster Rancher, players get to raise monsters and battle them to become the very best. Montabi satisfies a familiar craving, featuring colourful monsters that could potentially become mascots in their own right someday.

Kidbash World

One of our favorite games on the showfloor, Kidbash World was created in collaboration with Niji Games. Utilizing claymation assets and Mega Man-style run-and-gun gameplay, we hope that Kidbash World will fulfil its full potential one day.

As I Began to Dream

The puzzle platformer genre is not as popular in Southeast Asia as it should be, and As I Began to Dream definitely makes a compelling case for its recognition. Allowing players to rearrange their surroundings to solve environmental puzzles introduces a captivating and highly engaging mechanic.

Kejora

Another gorgeous-looking game, the small-town vibes of Kejora give this game a cinematic quality to the whole experience. Berangin Creative truly has something beautiful in its hands and we can definitely see this game receiving a film adaptation like Troublemaker in the future.

The Chef’s Shift

While frantic cooking games have become a trend after the release of Overcooked, The Chef’s Shift flips the script by mixing Diner Dash-style restaurant management with Typing of the Dead-style mechanics. A true case of fusion cuisine within the gaming scene.

House of Everlast

A puzzle adventure centered around the player’s ability to possess objects around them, House of Everlast is more spooky than it is scary. This is definitely a good thing, as players try to find their way out of a haunted mansion with the help of a friendly ghost.
