Explores the Lives of Amateur Esports Players in New Comedy Series 'Gamers Mangkuk’

In collaboration with MOONTON Games, Astro Originals presents Gamers Mangkuk, a comedic series that marks its debut in the realm of esports.
The story revolves around Tam, Napi, Lee, Maya, and Theeban, a group of amateur gamers competing in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia, in their journey to become professional esports athletes.
Directed by Hyrul Anuar and scripted by Sham Hashim, Bainun Waheeda, and Haris M, Gamers Mangkuk features a talented cast including Amir Ahnaf (Tam), Taufik Izmir (Napi), Nick Davis (Lee), Sara Mack Lubis (Maya), and Sathisvaran (Theeban).
“Gamers Mangkuk is a premium local drama that revolves around esports as its main narrative, and it shows our support towards the booming esports industry,” said the show’s executive producer Raja Jastina Raja Arshad.
“The series just doesn’t boil down to the competitiveness of the industry, but it also focuses on the challenges in attaining one’s dream as well as the social conflicts that exist within the community. Gamers Mangkuk can be enjoyed by all walks of life, aficionados of the game or even those who aren’t fans.”
Director Hyrul Anuar adds, “Gamers Mangkuk highlights the Generation Z. Nonetheless I have included elements and entertainment values for the general audience as well as accentuating the narrative in a comic concept. I hope Gamers Mangkuk will be received well amongst the audience as well as it is able to entertain them.”
Gamers Mangkuk is an 8-episode series that depicts the lives of amateur esports players striving to make their mark in the professional scene of MLBB.
Sponsored by one of the player’s mothers, Mangkuk Hajah Munah (portrayed by Khatijah Tan), the team’s personal stories and challenges are explored in this series.
Named after their sponsor, Gamers Mangkuk receive an invitation of a lifetime from the country’s renowned and famous esports athlete, Slayer, to compete in a prestigious competition as the winner will earn their place among the best professional players in Team Perang, who is also the national champions.
However, their journey takes an unexpected turn as they discover the organizers' hidden agenda – a rigged competition aiming solely for attention and sponsorship.
Feeling deceived, Gamers Mangkuk challenges Team Perang to a duel, seeking to reclaim their integrity and ascend as the new esports champions. The series promises suspense, drama, and the ultimate revelation of whether Gamers Mangkuk can make their way into the professional scene.
