In the dynamic realm of esports, Malaysia is set to make a significant mark with the highly anticipated ACS EDU Tour Season 3 x Unifi Mobile. This edition promises to be one of the largest and most influential collegiate esports tournaments in Southeast Asia, demonstrating the nation's commitment to nurturing a thriving and inclusive esports culture.

A Platform for University Gamers

The ACS EDU Tour, an initiative by CRIT Esports, has seen exponential growth, and Season 3 is poised to be the pinnacle of collegiate esports in the region. With a colossal grand prize pool of RM200,000, the tournament will host over 6,400 players from 100 universities across Malaysia’s 16 territories. This exceptional event aims to provide university players of all skill levels a platform to form top-tier teams, showcase their talents, compete fiercely, and vie for the title of Malaysia's best collegiate esports champion. The victors will receive a specially crafted trophy, symbolizing their dedication and success throughout the tournament.

The official press conference for the launch of ACS EDU Tour Season 3 x Unifi Mobile took place on June 10th at Asia Pacific University (APU) in Kuala Lumpur. As the first Esports Focal Sports Centre Coordinator designated by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, APU exemplifies the integration of academic and esports excellence. Hosting the launch at a university underscores the ACS EDU Tour’s mission to enrich collegiate esports culture and promote synergy between academics and competition. Students will actively participate in organizing the tournament, managing marketing communications, and handling backend broadcast production, facilitating valuable knowledge transfer.

Key figures at the press conference included Puan Nurul Azwa Bte. Mohd Rodzi, Deputy CEO of Impact Integrated; Ms. Jasmine Lee, Chief Commercial Officer, Consumer, Unifi; Mr. Alex Yee, Sales Director of the Device Division at ZTE Corporation Malaysia; and Puan Rozaina Mahmod, Corporate Relations Manager at Wipro-Unza. Esteemed guests such as Professor Dr. Ho Chin Kuan, Vice Chancellor of APU; Encik Muhammad Naim, President of the Malaysia Electronic Sports Federation; Mr. Randy Lim, Co-Founder of CRIT Esports; and Mr. Andrew Chen, Country Manager of CRIT Esports also graced the event.

Featuring PUBG MOBILE

This year's tournament will spotlight PUBG MOBILE, a globally acclaimed battle royale mobile game published by Level Infinite. PUBG MOBILE's immersive gameplay and competitive nature have made it a cornerstone of the esports arena.

Unifi Mobile, the Official Presenter of ACS EDU Tour Season 3, plays a crucial role by providing 5G and 4G data via Unifi Mobile’s UNI5G WOW Prepaid packs for all 6,400 players, ensuring uninterrupted gameplay. Unifi Mobile’s top-tier 5G capabilities, recognized by Open Signal as the World's No.1 Fastest 5G Download Speed provider, will deliver fast and low-latency connectivity for players nationwide.

To extend the tournament's reach, Unifi will broadcast the state and grand finals from September to November 2024 via the Unifi TV app, with a new dedicated sports channel, Unifi eSports (Channel 702), available for free on smart devices and smart TVs. This marks the first nationwide broadcast of the ACS EDU Tour, highlighting Unifi’s support for Malaysia’s esports industry and showcasing young gaming professionals.

ZTE returns as the Official Smartphone partner, equipping players with their latest gaming technology, including the Nubia Neo 2 5G mobile phones. This partnership underscores ZTE's dedication to the esports community, providing high-performance devices for both casual and competitive gameplay.

In a philanthropic move, ZTE announced a "Scream for Charity" campaign during the tour, encouraging donations to support local initiatives for the voiceless and abused. Participants who donate and yell “Nubia” into a sound machine will receive raffle tickets for a chance to win exciting prizes.

SAFI, the official personal care partner for Season 3, is also promoting gender diversity in esports. If an all-women’s team wins the tournament, they will receive an all-expense paid trip to the PUBG MOBILE Global Championship (PMGC) in London.

Additionally, CRIT Esports will launch a Key Opinion Consumers (KOC) recruitment campaign, offering students opportunities to connect with brands, create content, and potentially earn from their influence, fostering future digital influencers and enhancing the esports ecosystem.

Supported by the Malaysia Electronic Sports Federation (MESF) and Esports Integrated (ESI), the ACS EDU Tour Season 3 aligns with national initiatives to elevate Malaysia's esports scene from grassroots to professional levels.

This monumental event calls for students to register and participate, government bodies to continue their support, and corporate partners to join the exciting journey.
