How to set up the shortcut

Adding the reading mode shortcut to your phone’s home screen lets you quickly use the tool across websites and apps. After installing reading mode, open the app or tap 'Reading mode' in your settings for a quick tutorial on creating an easy-to-access shortcut which will live in the bottom-right corner of your screen. To open the tool, tap the floating button or just say, 'Hey Google, open Reading mode'.
Tip
You can also open Reading mode using your phone’s assistant. On Samsung devices, just press and hold your phone’s side button to activate Bixby, its built-in assistant, then say 'Open Reading mode' into the microphone. On a Pixel? Press and hold the Power button to open the Assistant, then say 'Hey Google, open Reading mode'.

What’s in reading mode

In reading mode settings, you can toggle between various font styles, text sizes, colour themes and more. Reading mode is compatible with TalkBack, your Android device’s screen reader, so you can also choose to have text on your phone read aloud to you.

Using reading mode is just one way to personalise your Android experience. Head to your phone settings and tap 'Accessibility' to adjust elements like text size, type and contrast.
