Industry Leading Security Features
Messages are stored on Proton Mail servers using end-to-end encryption at all times and are transmitted securely between Proton servers and user devices. This largely eliminates the risk of message interception.

Zero Access to Your Email Content
Proton Mail's zero access architecture means that your data is encrypted in a way that makes it inaccessible to us. Data is encrypted on the client side using an encryption key that Proton does not have access to. This means we don't have the technical ability to decrypt your messages.

Open-Source Cryptography
Proton Mail's open-source software has been thoroughly vetted by security experts from around the world to ensure the highest levels of protection. Proton Mail only uses secure implementations of AES, RSA, along with OpenPGP, while all of the cryptographic libraries used are open source. By using open-source libraries, Proton Mail can guarantee that the encryption algorithms used do not have clandestinely built-in back doors.

Proton Mail in the press:

“Proton Mail is an email system which uses end-to-end encryption, making it impossible for outside parties to monitor.” Forbes

“A new email service being developed by a group from MIT that met at CERN promises to bring secure, encrypted email to the masses and keep sensitive information away from prying eyes.” Huffington Post

This app was great until a recent update. Now it is taking emails (primarily from wikitree which is a free service if you are interested in replicating the problem) and squeezing them to the bottom of the email. The attached links don't work or they are left in the appropriate spot for you to have to guess which section of the white field is the link. I would appreciate this fixed. Thank you. I updated the review because I found that there is a way to let people know my problems in app.

Hi Seth! Please report this to us via the in-app 'Report a problem' feature, so we can look into this. If possible, please consider sending us a screenshot of how you see these messages on your end. Thank you in advance.

UPDATE #3: Updating software wipes your account/settings. Need to re-login, set settings, etc UPDATE #2: App is still constantly sending blank emails. As in, I hit reply, type an email, email is sent. When I check my sent box, the email is blank. There is no text. Recipient also gets blank email. UPDATE: Constant "mail not sent" and "draft could not be saved" as well as blank emails being sent. Latest update has too many bugs. ----------- App crash on startup. Proton Business Account.

The new update is definitely an improvement, especially with stability. I'm no longer having a problem with the app locking up if I try to open it by clicking on a new message notification. One thing about the design really needs to be tweaked: the app's status updates, such as when replying to a message, appears on top of the buttons in certain views. So if I reply to an email, I have to wait for the status notification to go away before I can delete, tag, or archive the original message.
