NVIDIA Studio FAQs

What is NVIDIA Studio?
NVIDIA Studio is our platform to help creators work better and faster. It’s an end-to-end platform, from the hardware that powers your laptop to the app you edit on, that aims to provide creators with the best performance in creative apps, the highest reliability, and new features that accelerate their workflow.

NVIDIA Studio includes:
  • NVIDIA RTX GPUs, the most advanced GPUs for creators, with hardware accelerations for video, 3D editing with ray tracing, and AI.
  • Exclusive NVIDIA Studio Drivers that are tested and optimized for the top creative apps.
  • Accelerations for all your favorite apps, including 75 of the top creative apps that are now accelerated for RTX hardware especifically, and 200+ apps accelerated for NVIDIA GPUs.
  • NVIDIA Studio exclusive tools to accelerate your workflows:
    • NVIDIA Omniverse, a software platform to allow 3D artists to collaborate in real time, work across applications, and use AI tools to enhance their art.
    • NVIDIA Broadcast, an app to turn any room into a home studio, upgrading standard webcams and microphones into premium smart devices.
    • NVIDIA Canvas: Quickly turn simple brushstrokes into realistic landscape images for backgrounds, concept exploration, or creative inspiration.

What are NVIDIA Studio Products or NVIDIA Studio validated Products?
Creatives can get all of the benefits of NVIDIA Studio with NVIDIA RTX GPUs. But because we know creators need more than powerful hardware - a great display apt for precision work, a powerful but quiet system that won’t get you out of your creative zone, a nice laptop that motivates you to work on it - and that it’s not easy to choose between hundreds of designs, we created the NVIDIA Studio Products program.

NVIDIA works with the top OEMs to help them design purposely built laptops for creators with fantastic designs and the right specs to get your work done. These machines receive a unique identifier - the NVIDIA Studio Products badge - so they are simple to find, and are extensively tested before and after launch to ensure that they always perform at their best.

What’s unique about NVIDIA Studio Products?
NVIDIA Studio Products are high-performance laptops and desktops equipped with the world’s most advanced GPUs for creators, color-accurate displays, validated specs to run your apps great, and with beautiful designs for creators. They are optimized for creative workflows — capable of editing up to 8K video, amazing 3D scenes with real-time ray tracing, and capable of automating repetitive tasks with AI-assisted features.

What are the requirements for an NVIDIA Studio laptop or desktop?
The base specifications are:
GPU: GeForce RTX 3050, RTX A1000 or higher
CPU: Intel Core i5 (H Series) latest gen, AMD Ryzen r5 (H Series) last gen, or higher
RAM: 16 GB or more
SSD: 512 GB NVMe SSDs or larger
Display: Factory calibrated IPS displays with wide color gamuts (available in 4K and 1440p)

What is the NVIDIA Studio Driver?
A Driver is an incredibly complex piece of software which allows your GPU to communicate with your operating system, graphics APIs, and key applications. It lets your hardware get better over time, as new versions tweak performance and provide optimizations for the latest apps.

NVIDIA Studio Drivers are drivers that are specially designed for creators. They are released on a regular, longer cadence that matches major app launches, typically every month. This way your PC is ready every time your favorite app updates, but your work is not disrupted often. These drivers are extensively tested against the top creative apps to ensure that your system won’t have any issues. New updates unlock performance boosts and sometimes new features in creative apps, providing artists, creators and 3D developers the best performance and reliability.

How do I install Studio Drivers?
Studio Drivers can be kept updated automatically through GeForce Experience. If you prefer to download them manually, they are also available directly from NVIDIA.com/drivers. If you are already using GeForce Experience, you can switch to Studio Drivers within GeForce Experience, by clicking the menu (three vertical dots in the top right corner) to reveal a toggle. Select “Studio Driver” to download and install.

Which GPUs are supported by Studio Drivers?
NVIDIA Studio Drivers are compatible with GeForce GTX 10-series and up, GeForce RTX series, TITAN V and RTX, NVIDIA RTX series and all Quadro products released since 2012.

How do Studio Drivers differ from Game Ready Drivers (GRD)?
In 2014, NVIDIA created the Game Ready Driver program to provide the best day-0 gaming experience. In order to accomplish this, the release cadence for Game Ready Drivers is driven by the release of major new game content giving our driver team as much time as possible to work on a given title. In similar fashion, NVIDIA now offers the Studio Driver program. Designed to provide the ultimate in functionality and stability for creative applications, Studio Drivers provide extensive testing against top creative applications and workflows for the best performance possible, and support any major creative app updates to ensure that you are ready to update any apps on Day 1.

I am both a gamer and a creator. Which driver should I install?
All NVIDIA drivers provide full features and application support for top games and creative applications.
  • If you are a gamer who prioritizes day of launch support for the latest games, patches, and DLCs, choose Game Ready Drivers.
  • If you are a content creator who prioritizes stability and quality for creative workflows including video editing, animation, photography, graphic design, and live-streaming, choose Studio Drivers.
While you can only install one driver at a time, switching is easy! Within GeForce Experience, click the menu (three vertical dots in the top right corner) to reveal a toggle and select the driver of your choice.

Why are NVIDIA RTX GPUs great for content creation?
NVIDIA RTX GPUs bring many new capabilities to accelerate content creation workflows including:
  • Real-time Ray Tracing - Hardware-accelerated ray tracing allows for faster, higher-quality renders with stunning visuals. NVIDIA RTX GPUs are armed with dedicated ray-tracing processors called RT Cores that accelerate the computation of how light travels in 3D environments. Ray tracing allows you to design photorealistic digital assets and animations.
  • AI for Content Creation - Create better content, faster with AI-enhanced capabilities such as resolution scaling, denoising, and video re-timing. NVIDIA RTX GPUs feature new Tensor Cores, processors that accelerate AI, providing up to 500 trillion tensor operations per second to dramatically speed-up AI-enhanced features.
  • Video and Image Processing - NVIDIA RTX GPUs feature an enhanced video encoder that improves H.264 and H.265 encoding speed by up to 25% over prior generation GPUs. This means higher quality livestreams and faster video renders for content creators. And with up to 4,608 CUDA Cores in NVIDIA RTX GPUs, GPU-accelerated image processing effects such as color correction, sharpening, and upsampling in Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and other creative apps will run faster than ever.
  • Unique Tools - NVIDIA RTX get exclusive access to tools that simplify your creative workflow, including NVIDIA Omniverse for 3D artists, NVIDIA Broadcast for live streamers and video editors, and NVIDIA Canvas for graphic designers and digital artists.

Q: What’s the difference between gaming laptops and NVIDIA Studio laptops?
NVIDIA Studio laptops are purpose built for creators with hardware and software drivers tailored to the needs of demanding creative workflows. Differences can include factory calibrated displays with wide color gamuts and higher resolutions, more memory and storage, and creator-centric designs - with options for new configurations like ezel displays, dials, or touch displays.

Which partners are part of the NVIDIA Studio program?
