Both Wix and Webflow have been releasing new features at the speed of light. It’s clear that they’re going head to head to become the most popular website builder. That being said, when one of them releases a popular feature, it won’t be long until the other releases it as well.

3. Main difference between Webflow and Wix

Webflow features an HTML CSS website editor. However, Wix doesn’t need any code to construct the site. If you don’t want any complexity, I recommend choosing Wix for faster results and fewer headaches. 

Gone are the days when creating and launching a professional-looking website required a degree in web programming.

Due to website builders like Wix, nearly anyone can construct their own site. Even if you have no prior expertise, the process of creating a website is simple with the right equipment.

Phase 1 – How to Install Webflow

Step 1: Go to Webflow’s website.

Step 2: Sign up for a free account.

Step 3: Choose a template or let Wix build one for you. 

Choose your favorite template and build your site with its Editor or answer a few questions to create the perfect site for you. 

The website builder makes an impression because of its multiple configurable designs, excellent functionality, flexible price policy, and access to numerous design customization options.

Wix users have access to hundreds of different templates to choose from. They are divided into numerous categories based on the niches or types of internet sites they are intended for. These categories are super-specific so choosing what is right for you should be easy.

Just replace the placeholder content with your own, and that’s it; you got a website. You can adjust elements to make them just the way you like them.

Things you should know about Wix Templates

A few important notes:

• • Wix’s templates are also upgraded regularly by expert site designers, which you’ll appreciate. The designs are responsive by default, which means they’ll adjust to fit any screen type, size, or resolution.
  • There are no limitations. You can adjust any Wix template to whatever you like.
  • Wix has one of the most unique, wide-ranging, and fully-customizable theme selections on the market, with over 700 high-quality themes to choose from.

Winner: 

In terms of the number of templates and choices for customizing themes, Wix appears to have the upper hand over Webflow. In fact, it has over 800 templates to pick from. While they’re all skillfully created, some look a lot better than others.  I suggest taking your time when selecting a template, especially since you won’t be able to change it once your site is online.

It’s tough to compare the user interface of Webflow and Wix, as it’s highly dependent on personal preferences.

There will be tons of people who think that Webflow clearly has a better editor. But then again, others will say Wix wins. I’ll start comparing the two for you to see the difference: 

The Webflow editor compared to Wix

Managing your website’s content should not be stressful. Thank goodness, Webflow has made it simple! There are no complicated dashboards or unconnected back ends with the Webflow Editor. It’s just you, your anticipated website, and the information you want to add. 

The Wix editor compared to Webflow 

The Wix editor is a bit less fully featured. The editor is arranged in 3 sections: a sidebar, a topbar, and the canvas. 

You can choose different elements to use on your website from the sidebar. The top bar has your settings and allows you to preview different devices. The canvas is the place where you work on your website. You drag elements from the sidebar into the canvas to add them to your website. 

For example, to add a button to the website, click on the plus sign in the sidebar. Select the button and drag it into the canvas. To edit the appearance simply use the edit menu that appears above the element.

Winner:

Webflow vs Wix? No need to choose! Both offer drag and drop editors, pre-built templates, online store building, real-time editing, and much more! The choice just depends on your needs.

For beginners, you have two options with Wix: Wix ADI or Wix Editor:

You can adjust the final draft with Wix ADI, but this approach is not ideal if you want absolute control. On the other hand, Wix Editor employs drag-and-drop capabilities, which means you can move anything on your website by simply pressing and holding the item, then dragging it to the desired location.

In my opinion, Wix ADI is simpler to use as it handles most of the hardships of developing a website personalized to your needs. All you need to do is modify it a little, and you’re able to start! 

Webflow 

In my opinion, Webflow will take some of your time understanding it. 

For some, its Designer can be complicated and time-consuming as it is feature-packed. However, the outcome is satisfying as you will have a well-built, dynamic website that you’ve always been planning for.  

Wix 

Wix is a website builder geared for beginners that allows users to construct websites without knowing any code. Anyone may take charge of the construction process and develop a website from the ground up in their spare time. 

Furthermore, customers may choose a package that already includes a name and hosting, eliminating the need to independently maintain or purchase these items. 

One downside, however, once you choose a template and edit it to your liking, it’s not easy to change to a different template. In fact, it means you have to start over.

Winner:

Wix for the win! Wix is famous for being straightforward to use. It doesn’t matter whether you’re inexperienced in web design; you’ll still be able to make effective use of Wix. You’ll be redirected to your control panel once you’ve registered and set up your account. Overall, Wix’s admin interface is structured correctly, making it simple to navigate.

Can you use Webflow or Wix for eCommerce?

Yes, actually, they’re both perfect for it. Let me show you why.

Webflow

Webflow helps you create a customized eCommerce store — from product grids to shopping carts without writing a single word of code.  As a user, you’ll be able to create landing pages, ads, and promos in minutes rather than days or weeks! 

Overall, I can assure you that you can build your eCommerce store YOUR way.

Wix 

Let’s continue with Wix.

Wix is an excellent option for eCommerce as well. In fact, three of Wix’s eight premium plans include fully integrated eCommerce functionality. For as little as $25 a month, you can have all the tools you need to sell online, including the essentials like taking online payments and extras like automatic sales tax and currency conversion. 

Overall, Wix’s eCommerce plans are mostly intended for customers who want a website capable of selling a few things here and there on the side. It is not advised for use in full-fledged internet businesses.

What about the tools?

Wix’s eCommerce tools are relatively sophisticated. However, they fall short of the capabilities of rival specialized eCommerce website builders like Shopify.

Both Webflow and Wix offer eCommerce features that your store will love!

Both Webflow and Wix have a lot of features. Honestly, I can’t think of any feature I would like to add to either one of them.

However, I can imagine you want to know more about what features are included. So here we go.

Webflow 

Webflow is a more complex approach to web design and was built with the needs of experienced web developers in mind. In fact, the system has many features and functions that every user will love. 

Furthermore, the signup process is equally quick and uncomplicated, but you’ll undoubtedly need much more effort to get used to its advanced design modification tools that demand a lot of knowledge and even web design experience. 

Overall, Webflow provides a wealth of excellent features, support materials, video tutorials, articles, and a forum, to ensure that you have the best possible start.

Wix

Now let’s continue with Wix.

Wix is an all-in-one platform that offers three different methods to create websites: Wix Artificial Design Intelligence, Wix Editor, and Wix Velo. 

The ADI creates a customized website for you in real-time based on your responses to questions. This super cool feature creates a website for you using AI. You get a couple of questions, and that’s it. Wix’s AI builds you a website. Amazing right?

The Editor is an intuitive drag-and-drop interface with various possibilities for each element, hundreds of templates (plus more from the community), video backdrops, parallax, and other fully adjustable features included in the editor. 

Velo is a tool that allows users to create more complex websites. It is a more complex interface, though, more for the tech-savvy crowd.

All Wix sites are hosted on their servers and contain security, backups, search engine optimization, domain names, and other features. Apps from the app store might help you to customize your website. 

Among the many features available is the ability to edit photos and logos, create password-protected pages, embed HTML, utilize stock photos, manage your online store, monitor statistics, use financial tools, and receive your own private mailbox.

Winner:

Versatility, advanced features, and creative customization are all strengths of Wix and Webflow. It’s only that each system is tailored to meet the needs of various user groups. I suggest using Wix if you want to pursue things easier and faster. 

The decision between Wix and Webflow might be difficult, especially for non-techies who don’t have a lot of web design experience but still need to find a service that meets their needs. Both website builders are excellent competitors, although they cater to different user groups and thus cover a wide range of web design requirements.

Let’s talk about pricing. When comparing Webflow vs Wix, price is an essential factor to consider. So, which platform is less expensive and which gives more value?

Webflow

You can create your site for free and take as much time as you need, but your account will stay in trial mode. And then, when you’re ready to conquer the online world, purchase a plan for extra pages and a personalized domain.

When you’re ready to commit to a subscription service, Webflow offers various site plans. Here are the latest prices as of April 2024.

• Basic –  $14 per month
• CMS –  $23 per month 
• Business –  $39 per month

Wix

Prices on Wix work a bit differently. They have multiple tiers with each tier to offer more functionalities. You pick from a variety of different plans based on the project’s requirements.

The best part about the pricing of Wix? It all comes with a free domain and a free SSL certificate.

Here are the four baseline plans as of 2024.

• Connect Domain – $4.50 per month
• Combo –  $8.50 per month
• Unlimited – $12.50 per month
• VIP –  $24.50 per month

Winner: 

Both fees are reasonable, but I’d choose Wix if you want to save more. Wix’s cost starts at $13 a month and escalates depending on the features you require. To avoid overpaying for a plan you won’t use, be sure you’d know what functions you need.

Both of them are great for SEO.  I’ve seen several Webflow and Wix websites with millions of visitors per month, all because of SEO!

Webflow

When you decide to add a site plan to your Webflow project, you can publish it to any custom domain you hold in addition to your site. 

To connect your domain to your Webflow project, go to the “Project Settings” and select the Hosting Option. Under “add existing domain,” enter your primary domain in the custom domain area.

Is it possible to link your project to more than one domain?

Yes. You can add an unlimited number of domains and subdomains, which is a practical approach for redirecting your existing domains to the new subdomain.

Both website builders are so popular, so deciding which is the best tool is much more difficult. 

So, which provider has the most chance of earning your loyalty in the long run? Which one performs better across all user groups? What are the strengths and shortcomings of both website builders that distinguish them from the competition?

Here’s a tip. 

Wix is one of the most popular and effective web design systems available. Webflow is a lesser-known band. Both have fantastic benefits, but choosing the wrong one for your situation could cost you much money.

Overall, both options have surpassed my expectations, and I would love to see how nicely they work for you too.
