Before posting

Choose the most appropriate forum to post in

Post your question in one forum only

Posting the same question in multiple forums of the same language is of no benefit. It fragments the support you receive and makes it more difficult for other users to find the correct information in the future when they do a search.

If you really feel your topic falls in two forums (e.g. a major development in the Quiz module that may impact other parts of Moodle), pick the more specific one and post a small pointer to the other discussion in the second forum.

Respect others

Show respect and consideration to others, including respecting the decisions of forum moderators and course facilitators. Any flaming or personal attacks will be deleted.

Use of AI

If you are not a native speaker you may use AI to help phrase your question or reply. If so, please add a note to your post 'AI used to help phrase this post.'

Provide feedback

Rate forum posts as useful to help others that may encounter the same problem and also encourage posters of helpful replies.

Once your problem is solved, reply to the thread, adding [Solved] to the subject line of your post and providing links to the documentation, discussion or tracker issue that helped you.

Advertising

In line with the Site policy section 5 Advertising guidelines:

  • You are welcome to write about or link to your company in your profile to help us better understand your background.
  • You may mention commercial products and services in the natural context of a discussion such as an answer to a question.
  • You may not post unsolicited advertisements for products or services. These will be deleted. Signatures in forum posts will also be deleted as they distract from the information provided.
  • You may advertise jobs in the Moodle jobs database only - not in the forums.

Promoting your plugin in the Plugins directory

  • Clearly highlight any paid option for your plugin in its description.
  • While you may describe the benefits of any ‘premium’ version, excessive advertising is not acceptable.

Site policy violations

  • Use the ‘Report to moderator’ link to report inappropriate posts.
  • To report spam sent via Moodle messaging or any other site policy issue, contact us via the moodle.com contact form.
  • Spammers or anyone else who persists in violating the site policy or this code of conduct will have their account blocked.
