0.0.19a[1] was a version of Java Edition Classic released alongside server version 1.5 on June 19, 2009, at 22:35 UTC.[2]

Additions[]

Blocks
  • Sponge JE1 BE1 Sponge[1]
    • Used to dry up a 5-block-wide area of water around the sponge, 2 blocks to each side of it.[3]
    • Disappears after a while.[4]
    • Sponge does not soak up lava, but it will stop it from flowing in.[5]
  • Glass JE1 (Glass JE1 recreation) Glass[1]
    • The glass texture in this version is not the same one as appears in a development screenshot.[6][7]
      • Glass is textured, but is semi-transparent.[8]
      • Glass (inventory) JE1 It does not render in the inventory and when underwater due to the above.[9]
General
  • Hotbar[1]
    • Visually displays available blocks.

Changes[]

  • Removed sand and cobblestone from the inventory (hotbar) because of a lack of space.[10][1][11]
  • Water and lava now have animated, and slightly different textures.[1][12]
  • Limited frame rate to 100 fps.[1]
  • Generating a new level while on a server, or saving the server level, no longer works.

Bugs[]

  • Sponges sometimes do not soak up water when placed and removed in certain ways, especially when water can flow in from above.[13]
  • Water cannot be seen through glass.[14]
  • Glass cannot be seen through water.[15]
  • Glass is invisible in darkness.[16]
  • Water has Z-fighting issues.[17]
  • Mobs have backwards heads.[18]
  • Pressing pick-block on sand gives switches to glass and copying cobblestone switches to sponge.[19]
