Red Wolf of Radagon Weakness

In Elden Ring’s Academy of Raya Lucaria, the Red Wolf of Radagon is a key boss you must battle. Defeating this foe is crucial to confronting Rennala and unlocking character respect. Though optional to the main storyline, defeating two Shardbearers is necessary to reach Lyndell.

Depending on your character’s build, this boss can pose a significant challenge or be easier to overcome. Upon victory, the Red Wolf of Radagon rewards you with 14,000 Runes and a Memory Stone in Elden Ring.

Overview of Red Wolf of Radagon Weakness

In the Academy of Raya Lucaria, you’ll encounter both the Red Wolf and Rennala, which are optional unless you aim for a linear path and must beat two Shardbearers to enter Lyndell. You can summon Spirit Ashes or other players, or NPC can summon Sorceress Sellen if you’ve progressed in her quest line.

Defeating these bosses can drop 14,000 Runes and a Memory Stone. They’re weak against slash, jumping, and heavy attacks but resistant to magic, fire, lightning, and holy damage.

Mages face the toughest challenge against the Red Wolf of Radagon in the RPG. The boss moves swiftly, rarely allowing enough time to cast spells. Moreover, the Red Wolf boasts strong resistance to Magic, Fire, Lightning, and Holy, making these elements less effective.

Red Wolf of Radagon Counter Moves

The Red Wolf of Radagon in Elden Ring uses a variety of moves in combat.

  • The wolf lunges forward for its basic Bite attack, and you can evade by rolling, blocking, or stepping back.

  • During the Rearing Bite, where it stands on its hind legs and lunges forward, it waits out its long wind-up before rolling forward to attack during its recovery.

  • When the wolf performs a Jumping Bite, leap forward to avoid the attack, knowing you won’t have much time to counter.

  • The Golden Blade move summons a large sword swung in wide arcs; it rolls toward the swings or blocks with a shield, as it deals with physical damage and has varying wind-up times.

  • During the Blade Plunge, where it jumps and slams a sword into the ground, rolls forward upon its descent to capitalize on its recovery.

  • Watch out for the Glintblade Orb, created after dashing left or right, dodge sideways to avoid the orb’s Glintblade attack.

  • During the Multiple Glintblade Dash, dodge continually to avoid both Glintblade projectiles and the wolf’s melee attacks.

  • Finally, during the Jumping Glintstone Cometshard, roll or move forward when the wolf jumps to avoid its powerful magic projectile, then strike quickly during its extended recovery time.

Tips to Beat The Red Wolf of Radagon Weakness

Defeating the Red Wolf of Radagon in Elden Ring depends heavily on your chosen character build. Casters will find it challenging, whereas melee builds will have a somewhat easier time. The boss is exceptionally fast and uses diverse combos in combat. Some of its attacks can instantly defeat you if your health is low.

If you’re finding it difficult to land attacks, consider using Ashes such as the Spirit Jellyfish or Marionette Soldier to divert the Red Wolf’s attention. This can create openings for you to strike.

For casters, focus on spells and incantations with quick casting times since the boss doesn’t allow much time for spellcasting.

Avoid being caught in animations when the boss attacks. Using a shield with 100% Physical Block can greatly simplify the fight. If you’re having trouble, summon other players or Sorceress Sellen (after progressing in her questline) for assistance.
