Ferenginar

A view of The Tower of Commerce on Ferenginar.

The Tower of Commerce was the largest and tallest building on Ferenginar, as well as the entire Ferengi Alliance. It was also referred to as the palace of the Grand Nagus, for it contained the Chamber of Opportunity, where the Nagus presided over the Ferengi economic empire, and the Chamber of Petitioners, where the Nagus dispensed financial advice to their subjects. (DS9: "Prophet Motive")

The Tower also housed the offices of the Ferengi Commerce Authority. Liquidator Brunt had his offices in the Tower of Commerce until he was ejected from his job in 2373. (DS9: "Family Business", "The Magnificent Ferengi") Quark also briefly worked in the Tower as First Clerk to Grand Nagus Zek. (DS9: "Ferengi Love Songs")

On Ferenginar, some criminals and financial deviants were taken by the FCA to the top of the spire of the Tower of Commerce and shoved off to plummet into the Sacred Marketplace, a full forty stories below, where people bet on where the victims would land. (DS9: "Bar Association")

In 2374, Rom tried to contact the Tower of Commerce but was unable to due to a communication blackout on Ferenginar. (DS9: "Profit and Lace").

In 2381, Rom invited Admiral Vassery and Captain Carol Freeman to finalize the Ferengi application for Federation membership in his palace. (LD: "Parth Ferengi's Heart Place")

The script of "Family Business" describes the Tower of Commerce: "One particularly tall structure rises out of a marketplace in the center of the city. It's a series of domes, one stacked on the other, reaching to the sky like a high-tech Angkor Wat. It's topped with a long, needle-like spire. This is the Tower of Commerce in the Sacred Marketplace, the center of all Ferengi civilization".

Interestingly, the first mention ever of the Tower of Commerce in "Prophet Motive" was overdubbed as such, but both Quark and Rom call it the "Temple of Commerce". The English subtitles also designate it the Temple of Commerce.
