If you had been waiting to pick up the Final Fantasy XIV patch for Dawntrail until tomorrow because you are on PC and didn’t expect it yet, we have good news for you: The patch is available right now. No, really. It turns out that there was some kind of error in the previous posting that the patch would be available on the 27th because PC players (including this reporter) are able to download the patch right now, and it has even been announced on the site.
Of course, this is a chonky patch as expected; you will want to have this downloaded well in advance of the early access launch if you want to be playing on launch. Fortunately, you can start doing so right now. Don’t delay! (Unless, say, you’re at work and can’t download it until this evening. That’s fine.) The game is still down for maintenance until early access begins on Friday at 5:00 a.m. EDT, though.
