Savannah is flooded with many great food options. Sometimes it’s overwhelming to decide where to eat, especially when you’re looking for a great burger. Whether you’re a local deciding where to pick up a burger for dinner, or a tourist on vacation, below are the five best restaurants where you can grab an amazing burger in Savannah.

From downtown to Midtown, to everywhere in between, I’ve compiled a list of the best burger joints so you don’t have to read through hundreds of reviews. Trust me, you’ll want to go grab a burger right after you read this!

These recommendations below are based on the following criteria: atmosphere/ environment, service, and quality of food. Narrowed down to the top five restaurants, the list is in no particular order.

1. Green Truck Neighborhood Pub

Located in the heart of Savannah, Green Truck is famous for its locally sourced food. From burgers to homegrown vegetables, Green Truck has a wide variety of burger options (even vegetarian and gluten-free options!).

Not only does Green Truck have fresh burgers, but their fried pickles make the PERFECT appetizer. Combine these pickles with their french fries and homemade ketchup and ranch dressing to create the perfect, fresh, flavor combination. The “Trailer Park” burger, in particular, is a huge hit. Topped with homemade pimento cheese, homemade pickles, tomato, onion, and lettuce, this burger is sure to melt in your mouth.

But wait! Be careful what time you try to go here because if you show up for dinner on a Friday or Saturday night, you’ll be waiting for a while. It’s a quaint, pub setting, however, right now with COVID-19, Green Truck is only offering delivery and pick-up options. On a regular weekend night, you can expect to wait about an hour, but trust me, it’s well worth it!

2. Crystal Beer Parlor

Crystal Beer Parlor is the FIRST restaurant in Savannah….no wonder they made the top five list for best burgers! Located downtown, this restaurant is within walking distance from many of the Savannah attractions.

The Crystal Beer Parlor is not only known for its great southern food but its ambiance also invites a unique experience. You can feel the rich history as soon as you walk through the door, as this restaurant is in the same historical building where it opened in the early 1900s.

This parlor is known for its quick service and reasonably priced food. In addition, the Crystal Beer Parlor has a separate allergy menu that shows exactly what people with different allergy restrictions can eat. The burgers are always known to be delicious and mouth-watering. I’ve never heard anything but amazing reviews for their burgers from both locals and tourists alike!

3. Ben’s Neighborhood Grill & Tap

Ben’s Neighborhood Grill & Tap is a hidden dive located in midtown Savannah. More known to locals, this gem is a quaint pub setting. The atmosphere is somewhat cramped and the lighting is very dim. There are only a few booths inside and a small outdoor seating area, so try not to go at peak times because it’s likely that there won’t be a seat!

The burger menu is extensive with a wide variety of flavorful toppings. The patties are a perfect size and cooked exactly to order. You can’t forget about the appetizers to go alongside your burgers like jalapeno poppers and truffle fries! Everyone who has tried a burger from Ben’s Neighborhood raves about it, which is why it’s a favorite for locals. They also offer a variety of craft beers, and as we all know, what goes better with a burger than beer?

Although it’s such a small space, the service is often slow. The burgers are on the higher side of the price range relative to the rest of this list, but this dive is well worth a try whether you’re a Savannah local or traveling through town.

4. Loc’s Chicken and Waffles

Looking for a burger on a budget? Loc’s Chicken and Waffles has you covered! This local Savannah restaurant is not exactly known for its burgers, but you’ll be pleasantly shocked when you try one. Many have said that they even eat the burgers from here for breakfast! Be sure to try the Deluxe Burger because it is “the BEST bacon cheeseburger in town!”

Loc’s is the perfect Saturday afternoon place to grab a bite to eat when you’re out on the town. Loc’s is not the spot that you would want to linger in because it’s not necessarily a comfortable environment, but it generally has very fast service, meant to get you in and out as quickly as possible.

Loc’s has an open kitchen, that you can see as you wait, so you know your food is cooked fresh. Loc’s is a hidden gem with three locations: Sandfly, the Southside, and Statesboro.

5. The 5 Spot

Located in Habersham Village in midtown (in addition to a new location downtown), The 5 Spot is a quaint, modern restaurant with a wide variety of menu options. The interior definitely has a designer’s touch and it makes you feel right at home when you walk through the doors.

Although there are so many different things to choose from on the menu, The 5 Spot has FANTASTIC burgers. Not to mention, when paired with their sweet potato fries, you might never want to try anything else. The burger menu features unique pairings and toppings so you’re sure to find a burger that you’ll love. There are also gluten-free options for those with food restrictions. Personally, my favorite burger is the Ardsley Burger topped with both pimento cheese and bacon.

Every time I have gone to The 5 Spot, I am always greeted with a smile. The staff is always friendly and accommodating, however, sometimes the service is known to be slow.
