League of Legends Esports Inducts Faker Into the Hall of Legends

League of Legends is one of the biggest esports games out there and over its tenure, it has managed to produce legendary athletes in the esports industry. Hence they decided to have a program where LoL esports inducts a pro player into the Hall of Legends each year to honour the player’s achievements. This year will be the first iteration of Hall of Legends and the inductee has been decided. It could be none other than one of the prolific LoL athletes in the world, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok.

Faker has been in the League of Legends esports scene for 12 years now, and his ability at the game has granted him the nickname, “The Unkillable Demon King.” Faker’s career has been an illustrious one, as he has managed to bag several trophies at different competitions, with the likes of 10 LCK titles, two Mid-Season Invitational Titles and four World Championship titles. This is why the man is now a part of the Hall of Legends and also the first inductee.

That is not all, as Faker will also be honoured through an in-game event on Rift along with purchasable custom cosmetic items to commemorate his journey. Moreover, Mercedes-Benz will also present a “dedicated art piece for Faker” which will be a fusion of reality and League of Legends. The artwork will have highlights of Faker’s achievements through his LoL career. On top of that, Faker will also be gifted a custom Mercedes-AMG SL 63. Furthermore, the Hall of Legends in-game event will also feature an event pass that will take players through a journey based on Faker’s career, “highlighting pivotal moments, achievements, and more.” Players should also know that the inductee for Hall of Legends is chosen through an independent voting panel, constituted of esports industry veterans and industry experts from every region.

“Faker is truly the most iconic and influential figure in League of Legends and esports history,” John Needham, president of esports at Riot Games said. “His name is synonymous with excellence in LoL Esports, and he has rightfully earned his place as our very first Hall of Legends inductee.”
