Justice League of America [2017 - Current] - Review

A new Justice League for a modern America.

Update: We've added details for Justice League of America: Killer Frost #1.

DC will be launching a new Justice League of America comic in February 2017. The series will spin out of the upcoming Justice League vs. Suicide Squad crossover and feature a new team that will co-exist with the current Justice League.

The new series will be written by Steve Orlando (Supergirl) and drawn by Ivan Reis (Blackest Night). The book will feature a diverse lineup of heroes, with DC promising that, "This is a Justice League that looks like America, that proves Heroism can look like ANYTHING and ANYONE."

To celebrate this launch, DC will also be releasing a series of four one-shot comics in January that will spotlight individual members of the new JLA. Scroll down to find out which DC heroes will be serving on this new team and which creators will be tackling these one-shots. We'll keep updating this article as more reveals are made.

The Verdict

Justice League of America #1 is a stronger read than its predecessor. Without the need to focus on setup, this issue can dive right into the action and explore the various character dynamics in greater depth. JLA isn't quite as deep as it needs to be given the team's mission statement, but the cast and the art both help establish this series as a solid addition to the Rebirth lineup.
