Computex 2024: Zotac Zone Handheld Device Will Reportedly Feature Ryzen 7 8840U CPU and More

With the upcoming launch of the teased Zotac Zone gaming handheld device at Computex 2024 next week, the company is set to enter a competitive market. Looking at the landscape, the Zotac device will be compared with rivals like Steam Deck OLED, the upcoming Asus ROG Ally X, and Lenovo Legion Go. Earlier leaks from a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) just hinted at the image of the upcoming device. Now, the latest information has reportedly revealed all the key technical specifications of Zotac Zone.

According to the leaks, the Zotac Gaming Zone includes an 8-core Ryzen 7 8840U APU with eight Zen 4 cores running at 3.3 GHz to 5.1 GHz and SMT-enabled including a total of 16 processing threads. Zotac has only confirmed details about the CPU, which means that it is the latest Hawkpoint variant rather than the speculated Ryzen Z1 Extreme chip. Furthermore, since it is a Ryzen 7 8840U, it utilizes Radeon 780M integrated graphics featuring 12 RDNA3 Compute units. According to the specifications, it runs at 15 watts by default, and if more performance is required, it can be unlocked up to 28 watts, although that would obviously impact the battery life and increase more heat.

In terms of display specifications, it is equipped with a 120Hz 7-inch display with a 1080p screen resolution and a brightness of up to 800 nits. Furthermore, in terms of memory specifications, it features 16GB of LPDDR5X memory, likely clocked at 7500MT/s. The Zotac Zone supports M.2 2280 SSDs and comes with 512GB of storage by default. It has a Li-ion battery of 48.5 watt-hours with a running time of 1.25 hours. Considering the Zotac Zone's competitors, battery life definitely wouldn't be a strong point for the Zotac Zone, as competitors such as the Asus ROG ALLY X feature an 80-watt-hour battery. Furthermore, the demo unit to be presented at Computex next week is a prototype for users to try out, not the final version.
