It's always daunting when we take a different path and move away from tried and true practices. This is true whether it's something as mundane as trying a new cuisine or something way bigger, like reinventing a supply chain. I've been in the fashion industry for most of my career, and I know that supply chain innovation doesn't happen overnight. But sometimes you have to bite the bullet, and we are at the point in our history where we have no choice. The key to effective change is to identify and utilize available resources, or build new ones. In our case, with a mandate to make "exactly what people want and not a single garment more", it's all about crafting strategic partnerships with "micro factories". Micro - not in terms of capacity, but rather the ability to service micro orders at speed. But for micro factories to thrive and scale, they need technology to automate as much as possible without sacrificing quality and efficiency. We’re thrilled to share that Cobalt Fashion is measuring with Carbonfact! 👕🧶 Cobalt Knitwear switched from manual carbon accounting with consultants to working with the Carbonfact Carbon Accounting platform for apparel and footwear. The supplier of knitwear wanted to minimize the manual effort needed to consolidate the data and wished for 100% transparency when calculating its’ Scope 1,2 and 3 emissions. Cobalt Knitwear is the go-to source for beautiful trend-driven knitwear. The supplier takes its responsibility to reduce its own emissions and waste generation seriously and is actively incorporating sustainable yarns and recycled fibers into their knitwear production. ellen arosio Senior Compliance and Sustainability Manager at Cobalt Knitwear says: “The consultants took our data and came back to us with the results, but we really wanted to understand how the emissions were calculated, which has proven to be very difficult.
