Your heart has been replaced with advanced technologies: You cannot be poisoned, and filters in your heart will also regulate bleeding and healing, allowing all healing items (chems) to function at a higher level. Robots are now confused by you and 50% less likely to score a critical hit.Fallout: New Vegas description

Heartless is a special perk in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Old World Blues.

Obtaining[]

This perk is rewarded automatically along with Brainless and Spineless while talking to Klein and the Think Tank during Welcome to the Big Empty, when the conversation comes to the topic of the Courier's brain, heart, and spine being removed and replaced with Big MT technology.

During and after completing Old World Blues, if it was installed, the Sink Auto-Doc can optionally be used to swap it with Cardiac Arrest and vice versa.

Effects[]

Gaining this perk grants a permanent immunity to all sources of poison damage, a -50% decrease to the critical chance of robots when attacking the player character, and a bonus to HP restored by using certain consumables.

Affected items[]

Notes[]

  • While all three perks are available as soon as one appears on the Sink balcony at the start of the add-on and can be viewed in the Perks section of the Pip-Boy, they are not introduced until talking to the Think Tank.
  • Heartless shares the same Vault Boy image as Cardiac Arrest.
  • Fighting cazadores, including the legendary cazador and Specimen 73, becomes significantly less daunting, even against a swarm, with the perk due to the damage of their attacks primarily relying on their powerful poison.
  • Dead Money Because the Cloud is a corrosive hazard instead of a poisonous one, this perk will not protect against damage inflicted by entering Cloud pockets in the Sierra Madre.

Behind the scenes[]

"Heartless" is an adjective associated with cruelty or a lack of remorse.

Bugs[]

PCPC The Sink Auto-Doc message for this perk erroneously states "...allowing all healing items (chems) to function at a higher level (+25%)". [verification overdue]
