Etymology

Borrowed from Japanese キャラ弁 (kyaraben), a contraction of キャラクター弁当 (kyarakutā bentō), itself from English character bento.

kyaraben (usually uncountable, plural kyarabens)

  1. A style of elaborately arranged bento which features food decorated to look like people, characters from popular media, animals, and plants.
