For just the second time in its 100+ year history, the Copa America international soccer tournament will be held outside of South America.

The quadrennial competition initially determined a South American champion, but beginning in the ’90s, teams from North America and Asia have been invited to compete if they qualify. This year’s tourney is on North American soil, too — fourteen US cities will serve as hosts (in a precursor to the 2026 World Cup).

Though there’s a lot to be excited about, there’s been much buzz about Argentinian captain (and one of the best players in the world) Lionel Messi as he returns to the international stage with Argentina defending their title. Messi missed one game of the tourney already, and his status remains questionable. There’s a chance this may be the last tournament he plays in for Argentina’s National Team, too.

Team USA begins their Copa America slate on Sunday, June 23, in a match against Bolivia, before facing Panama on June 27 and Uruguay on July 1.

The tournament is particularly easy to watch this year with all matches being split between three channels. Live TV streaming services like Sling TV and DIRECTV Stream are great options for streaming Copa America.
