Journal Impact Factors are among the top considerations for academic authors. Of the 237 MDPI journals awarded a Journal Impact Factor in the release of the Journal Citation Reports by Clarivate, 72% (171) ranked above average, in either Q1 or Q2. MDPI recently surveyed the scientific community and found that a significant 78% of respondents confirmed that Impact Factor is a key factor in their journal selection process. This highlights the importance of these metrics in the publication process. Being sufficiently hydrated, especially on days that are warmer during the summertime, is essential for our health. A review published in the open access journal Nutrients MDPI gives a run-down of the literature present on different aspects of hydration and how our bodies regulate water intake. The paper, cited in TIME magazine, explores how the body is able to maintain water homeostasis and the mechanisms behind this, as well as the adverse effects that dehydration can have on the body. Furthermore, it provides guidelines on how older adults can best increase their water intake. Read more about this research: https://brnw.ch/21wLgiZ or view the news story: https://brnw.ch/21wLgiV

All articles in the Journal of Imaging 2313-433X) Vol 10, Issue 6, are now freely available to access, read and download: https://brnw.ch/21wL6C6 COVER STORY: The Alcazar of Seville, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to the Charles V Pavilion, a Renaissance masterpiece with roots dating back to the 12th century. This study by researchers from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) advanced geomatics and ground-penetrating radar (GPR) techniques, alongside Historic Building Information Modelling (HBIM), to meticulously document and preserve the pavilion. By integrating 3D laser scanning, GNSS, and GPR, we generated a precise model of the pavilion and its subsurface. This comprehensive BIM model enables detailed structural analysis, virtual reconstructions, and interactive public engagement. Our interdisciplinary approach not only aids in conservation but also fosters global collaboration and advances in cultural heritage preservation. This special issue explores modern applications of the theory of nuclear matter in neutron stars and focuses on proposed ideas to constrain the equation of state of both cold and hot nuclear matter (low/high densities). The special issue mainly covers observational data from radio pulsars, X-ray sources, gamma-ray burst sources, and the detection of gravitational waves originating from neutron star mergers. Guest edited by Prof. Dr. Charalampos Moustakidis of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). Access the free reprint: https://brnw.ch/21wLfXT #mdpi #openaccess #neutron #stars #research

Physical activity has been named the fourth leading risk factor for global mortality. Here we explore The Every Walk You Take Initiative, where researchers from the UK, Spain and Canada have developed a mobile app which promotes physical exercise in specific age groups. The initiative used the mobile app to recommend healthy walking routes in Barcelona for specific age groups. The study, published in the open access journal Sustainability MDPI targeted individuals over the age of 55 who are at a higher risk of developing non-communicable diseases. The researchers explain that the initiative has the potential to be expanded to other countries aiming to reduce stress on healthcare systems and support sustainability.
